Once intimidated by router, Ben could happily use one on a daily basis now. This TMNRTR 880W Trimmer Router from Triton Tools is a game changer for luthiers everywhere! Ben explains why:

Every serious guitar player, or guitar builder, should have a Guitar Bucket List. Those guitars, whether owned by an iconic artist, or made by a renowned luthier; that you would love to 'meet', hold or have the privilege to play. Ben has recently had such a privilege - meeting the Dave Grohl and Pat Smear Monkey Wrench 1990 Gretsch White Falcon Guitar at the Gardiner Houlgate Specialist Auctioneers.
Welcome to Crimson Guitars youtube.com/user/CrimsonCustomGuitars?sub_confirmation=1
This guitar was Pat Smear's personal 1990 Gretsch White Falcon hollow body electric guitar, made in Japan. It was used by Dave Grohl in the video for the bands 1997 single 'Monkey Wrench’ and used by Pat Smear on 'The Colour and The Shape' album recordings. The guitar also used live on various Foo Fighters tours; the body in Classic White Falcon finish with orange sparkle binding, ebony fretboard, modified Cadillac tailpiece, modified switching, and the body with pillow filling interior. (Funny story :D)

Welcome to Crimson Guitars youtube.com/user/CrimsonCustomGuitars?sub_confirmation=1 and Ben's home workshop. In this video, Ben has a set of vintage forged steel chisels that need some TLC. This tool restoration will involve grinding the chisels back to a perfect 90-degree edge. Ben then sharpens them to the correct 25 degree cutting angle for a bevel edge set perfect for paring work. One of the wooden handles has been repaired in the past, not very well, so Ben fixes this. Why do all vintage tool seem to have white paint spots? Comment below...
Also - Ben's new chisel racks are now available - crimsonguitars.com/products/acrylic-tool-rack?_pos=1&_sid=60811ae86&_ss=r
Chapters:

2:30 The only problem with the Pro Edge…

Welcome to Crimson Guitars youtube.com/user/CrimsonCustomGuitars?sub_confirmation=1 and Ben's home workshop. This is the last video in the recent Bass build series. When Ben completed with Fretless Bass during a series of livestreams, it was raffled off with the proviso that if the winner so desired, Ben would turn it into a fretted bass. This indeed happened and we hope that the new owner of this instrument has as much enjoyment playing it as we had watching Ben build it.

2:05 First - remove the brass inlays
2:47 Saving the strings and protecting the body
3:55 First cut - this is a daunting task
5:00 Deciding how to remove the custom inlays without damaging the fretboard

Welcome to Crimson Guitars youtube.com/user/CrimsonCustomGuitars?sub_confirmation=1 and the most exciting and valuable wood delivery to Crimson HQ EVER! This wood is New Zealand swamp Kauri - very rare and very, very old. Carbon dating puts it at 41,840 years old (+/- 878 years...). This wood belongs to an exclusive client and Ben will be building at least one custom guitar in the near future. It took 4 years to prepare these pieces of timber, and to send them all the way to the UK. I for one, can't wait to see what Ben and the luthiers at Crimson create.
Chapters:
0:00 Introduction
0:35 New Zealand Swamp Kauri - between 5 and 50 000 years old
1:15 Took 4 years to get it into UK
1:52 Wagner Moisture Metre and discussion on further drying.
5:00 And we wait to see what will be made from this beautiful wood.

In this short series, Ben rescues this Hofner Galaxies neck and goes from a scratched-up mess that needed a shim, to a stunning new look. 12:15 What colour should the neck be? Be a part of Ben's decision-making in the live streams on our EXTRAS channel.

Welcome to Crimson Guitars youtube.com/user/CrimsonCustomGuitars?sub_confirmation=1 and Ben's home workshop.
You asked and Ben will deliver...our eccentric (read insane) Luthier will be building an entire guitar out of a single piece of Mahogany! With hand tools only...maybe!
Chapters:
0:00 Introduction and recap
7:12 Plane saw and repeat. Where to begin though? Perhaps sharpen the plane?
11:40 The Plan!
12:17 First cut......and many saws later he is still going. Bet he is regretting this build!
16:42 First plank a success, 5 more needed. Rinse and repeat.
21:52 Onwards and upwards - gym workout not needed.
26:51 A break from sawing so back to the neck and headstock - and spooges of superglue?
30:47 Sanding with the beam and then High Build Finishing Oil. Perfect shine, but .............
36:30 Re-cutting the fret slots
39:44 OH NO! He has just realised......
40:45 Back to the fret slots.
41:42 Frets are going in next, however, there is a slight hitch that needs addressing!
49:52 Conclusion
