The design is an edit of another users 3d model, thanks Frodo_15br for the original design of the box.The NES controller hardware is from cheap new generic controllers available on ebay, they are made in a way that makes them very suitable for this project.I used a Crown CWL-309MJ-DX Joystick and iL PSL-L Concave Buttons from Paradise Arcade Shop. cost about $60 with shipping, the filament i used was some Green TPU from a company called Giant Arm on amazon, it just happened to be translucent, which is a nice touch. OGmolton1 2024-01-31 | I been using an AGM battery for a little over a year at this point and it appears to be failing on me already... comparing it to the performance of the original lead acid battery I took out of the thing a little over a year ago... this video doesn't really reach any conclusions over which type of battery is in fact better but tends to suggest AGM batteries are not the right choice imo, probably gonna buy a new non-agm lead acid battery to test soon

This bike is a nightmare of engineering genius and shitty capitalistic decisions and poor quality control. In my opinion they sound MUCH better with this simple modification. There are many 3-way speakers that could probably benefit by a modification like this. Personally I think the manufacturers don't want to shell out the funds for this hefty low end crossover hardware if they don't have to. X-Pro X20 GY6 scooter - thoughts on maintenance and performance after a year of use(see description) OGmolton1 2023-01-19 | turns out the original manifold on this bike was a little too large for the carburetor, I guess that's why I was having all the issues with the clamp on there. I got a new engine manifold on amazon for gy6 engines and it fits a lot snugger and the clamp doesn't have to crimp the thing on there anymore.Now it runs perfect. I'm gonna replace mine after one year, maybe less, I only went like 14 months before the belt disintegrated, but I bet this new belt from amazon will last a year for me.I put an 835 20 30 belt on it, after buying a compressor and and impact wrench, because it would have been impossible to do it reasonably without that imo.... Idk if it's just the belt, or the new belt and the new engine air fixes, but whatever it is the performance is like 15% better than ever, especially in the low end but at the top too. acceleration seems like twice as good. 3018 Pro CNC machine upgrades - Power Supplies - modifying a psu for lower voltage & lost steps OGmolton1 2021-03-01 | I'm working on some serious upgrades for this little 3018 pro machine, I wanted to get the power supply situation straight first and realized that the original power supply is pretty much the weakest part of this little machine and start using the power supply for the machine before I originally planned to. I lightly modified some power supplies to adjust the voltage to the levels I wanted, not sure how safe it is, but so far so good. At the end I show some footage of my machine losing steps making a part and I do a comparison between the original and the new power supplies.
BlenderCAM - roughing and finishing pass 3D relief, performing tool change on GRBL 3018 CNC machine OGmolton1 2021-02-18 | BlenderCAM is really amazing, and although it's been version 0.9.0 for the last 5 years it is certainly being worked on by some very talented people. I use some of the cooler features of BlenderCAM to successfully do a 2 pass relief cutout using a fine 1mm ball nose bit. had some issues with the first attempt but the piece of wood i was using had a hole in it anyway. Had to switch controller boards to use usb. fyi, don't just leave the usb plugged into those boards while not in use, easy to crack a pin with that big cable hanging out. fyi the new board works at 400 steps per mm with the same motors my old board used 800 steps per mm, looks to do the same quality work. I thought maybe the motors effected that setting more than the board but that does not seem to be the case. This board came preconfigured correctly for the 400 steps per mm, I looked at the current GRBL settings using the Engraver Master software.

I talk about blenderCAM and milling a bit. One of the processes takes 14 hours to do so I start using a grow tent in my laundry room as a fairly nice indoor housing for the CNC machine.
Automating a DSLR (Pentax K100D) to shoot time lapses using an Arduino Nano and an N-channel mosfet OGmolton1 2021-02-09 | This video is the process I used to automate time lapse photography on my old Pentax K100D digital SLR. I did it using a method well documented around youtube that uses a micro controller like the Arduino nano I'm using with a mosfet to act like a electrically controllable switch. I tested this design off camera and the wires that trigger the camera have 0 volts on them throughout operation, even while the camera is being triggered. The time lapse at the end came out good but the nature of the milling, how the subject in the frame moves around, and the close view of the subject makes the time lapse itself a little hard to watch.

Fixing a PS2 controller arcade stick conversion - hot glue problems and 0 ohm resistors as jumpers OGmolton1 2021-01-02 | I would have been better to make a tutorial on how to make this but I did it a while ago, just need to make some repairs i thought i would document on YouTube. All the buttons are wired exactly as they would have been on the original PS2 controller button membrane except the 2.2k ohm resistor connects to the board in a different area, I think that not only fixes the button issues but nullifies the analog stick input as well but I'm not 100% sure about that. If there's a lot of interest in this I could certainly find out whats going on with the analog stick inputs there.

Maybe the original SNES did use a bilinear filtering when outputting 512x448 in 240p

Grand Canyon in VR - X-Plane 11.50b17 with satellite image and terrain data, using Vulkan rendering OGmolton1 2020-08-08 | This is a little joy ride through the grand canyon using forkboy2's HD grand canyon orthophotograpy pack, flying the VSKYLABS CTLS, I explore the plane's parachute system at the end of the video. The orthophotography is level 18 zoom, I spend most of the video pretty close to the ground to get a good look at it. I tried to record commentary but I guess it didn't work. The Vulkan rendering engine makes a huge difference in this game. I'm running this at 150% native VR resolution, before Vulkan I had all the details turned down and was running at 70% native resolution. I don't think I get 90fps usually but it works well enough to avoid discomfort. In case you haven't noticed, besides basic flight mechanics I have no idea what i'm doing in a plain. Sure is fun though.

Kitchen microgreen garden complete build, growing 9 year old frozen turnip seeds OGmolton1 2020-07-05 | This is a video of my kitchen microgreen garden build that includes microgreen led grow light design, modifying a shoe rack into a garden light support, making a garden fan out of an old computer fan, growing turnip seeds that have been in a jar in my freezer for the last 9 years as a test, and more. Microgreens apparently fetch a lot of money, so they're probably tasty and nutritious, and they're a quick way to grow food. I happen to have about 50 thousand heirloom seeds in my freezer that are excellent for making microgreens with, 20 thousand being turnip seeds, I thought I'd grow some microgreen turnips. Microgreens are like bean sprouts to the next level. I've seen some people feeding them and talking about waiting for true leaves but part of the appeal for me is all the natural seed nutrition without feeding the plants anything at all. Might have rushed the germination a little bit but that might be to thicken stalks for more weight commercially and not actual quality but idk. They are tasty I can tell you that. Tryed out coco coir mats on top of perlite for a growing medium, I liked the combination a lot. I just cut the mat from a roll I got online.Also included is how i make noisy computer fans quiet and convert wall wart AC to DC adapters into an inline design with a cord.I used Virtualdub2 for basic video editing, blender for the majority of the editing and audacity to make the really loud parts not so loud.

The electrical design of these lights use a much lower electrical current than the LEDs are rated for to get efficient, cool running but bright results, even with the low profile 1/4" aluminum heatsink with no fins I make for the lights. Sega Saturn cd drive, distorted audio, wont read discs, with RF tests OGmolton1 2020-02-17 | Was trying to get an old Sega Saturn to boot game discs, then I broke worse than it was, then I got it back, but it won't read the discs correctly! The drive only detects discs when the laser potentiometer is cranked up, I'm thinking it needs a certain amount of power for the dirty optics that is too high for the pickups, or just the dirt itself is distorting the data. Ran RF tests which look fine to me, but I don't really know what a bad signal would look like, I just know it looks good.
