It was first released on the Tarquin’s Seaweed Farm cassette in 1989 before inclusion on Yellow Hedgerow Dreamscape. It was recorded in 1988. From the original liner notes: “During all previous tours the band always included at least one Pink Floyd classic from the Ummagumma period in the live show. During the Autumn 1988 tour we played an original piece evoking the same sense of random wonder and energy. It differed greatly from night to night. "Arcadia Son" was the first of two I.E.M. albums released in 2001; the other being "Have Come For Your Children" just several months later. Porcupine Tree - The Sound of No-one Listening (2001 remix) Music for the Head 2019-06-15 | This track has been remixed a lot, but I haven't seen this version (from the very first issue of the Stars Die compilation, and also the Headspin and 2011 Signify vinyl) uploaded before, so here it is. Personally, this is the one I was most familiar with, so hearing the version on Spotify and the most recent reissues feels quite alien to me - the balance of lots of synths and various fx sounds as well as actual sounds themselves are completely different. To me, this is the best the song ever sounded. For those unfamiliar, this track was cut from Signify as Idiot Prayer filled a rather similar role already. Enjoy!

Porcupine Tree - Radio Active EP [1993] Music for the Head 2019-05-31 | Here's a very rare promotional EP release from pre- Up The Downstair in early 1993. It's particularly interesting for having a couple of exclusive variations of tracks; the "Synesthesia" edit, short "Radioactive Toy" (with a different solo), and "Cloud Zero" with alternate intro (it no longer contains the interpolation from "Split Image") were not released anywhere else. Also, since "The Joke's on You" got remixed with Up The Downstair in the early 2000s, it's also worth hearing the original here as well (the only other place you can is the original Staircase Infinities copies)! Porcupine Tree - Even Less (original first cassette demo) Music for the Head 2019-05-28 | This particular version is interesting because the Even Less "demo" has been passed around with the wrong audio for years on the internet. Basically, there are two main Even Less demos: the one supposedly on the 1997 demo cassette (often bootlegged as Ambulance Chasers or Stupid Dream Demos; 14 minutes) and the 16 minute one released on the limited Four Chords That Made a Million single (which reflected what they were playing live in 1997 and 1998). The problem is that since the official 16 minute release was better quality (CD rip vs cassette), fans began substituting the audio from the bootleg with the 16 minute version, not realizing that they're actually slightly different. As a result, it is almost impossible to track down this original cassette version since it has been replaced in almost all copies of Ambulance Chasers you can find on the internet. This was the very first version of Even Less ever released. Porcupine Tree - Live at Stoke (11/1/1997) [full concert] - Early Stupid Dream material Music for the Head 2019-05-24 | This was one of the first ever shows on the Signify tour to feature early Stupid Dream material! Great to hear the slight changes that occurred over time to "Even Less" in particular - the lyrics seem to change night to night. At this point the full-length arrangement was still 16 minutes, not the 14 minute arrangement that would become familiar to us through Recordings. This change seemed to happen after the 1998 tour when the band began to record the rough takes for the album (see: youtube.com/watch?v=unKENdzBmPg) Also, note that SW says that "Ambulance Chasing" was definitely going to be on the album and that it could end up being the title track (he also said this on other shows on the tour). Porcupine Tree - BBC Sessions (1993 - 1996) Music for the Head 2018-04-14 | Porcupine Tree appearing on Mark Radcliffe's BBC Radio One show was absolutely imperative to the band reaching a larger audience and receiving the popularity they would achieve later in their career. If it weren't for Mark's constant playing of Porcupine Tree and their appearances on BBC, the Coma Divine shows in Rome would not have happened and it is likely the band would have broken up. Here are all 3 appearances on BBC in the 1990s. Some of this material appeared on Spiral Circus, but I did not see the full material uploaded to Youtube, so I thought I would do it myself. The recording quality is frankly quite poor but it's such an important part of their history that I think the upload is absolutely needed. Cannot. Erase, and establish that it was an entirely different type of album.
