While the staff was in the shipyard on Tuesday (10/14/25) working with contractors to inspect fire and flood alarms prior to the ship going back in the water, they got a dead-level view of the full and complete paint job from atop the walls of Drydock #6.
From the drydock floor, they also got a view of the anodes that have been applied to the underwater hull. These will help to deter corrosion by sacrificing themselves before corrosion can start on the steel. KIDD's original anode layout focused solely on the area around the propellers and the shafts at the rear of the ship. As a museum vessel, the anode layout has changed so that the full hull from stem to stern receives protection.
THERE'S STILL A NEED FOR FUNDING to finish restoration of equipment in the warehouse that is NOT being restored by the shipyard, and to keep the lights on back home at the museum. Let's make KIDD better than the bare minimum!
