(i feel like this is a forbidden knowledge, but i have to do it).
Yes, this is George Fan's first game before he joined PopCap (You know, the man who created Insaniquarium and Plants vs. Zombies). I don't see anyone talking about this on Youtube (or even talking about it in general), so yeah, you know it.
A little story of how i found out about this :
A few months ago, i found the Flying Bear Entertainment's website (it's the company that George Fan made for Insaniquarium), and i noticed about the "Wrath of the Gopher!" link in one of the news, apparently it's a game that was made before Insaniquarium.
At first i didn't care about it because i thought the link's dead (because it's blank), so i leave the website and forgot about it.
But then, a few weeks ago, i was curious about it. So i did a research on how to play this. Fortunately, i found one article about George Fan's history.
In the article, George Fan said this :
“[Wrath] was the very first ‘real’ game I finished. Before that, I had serious doubts about whether I was cut out to be a game designer. I remember cutting up index cards to do a paper prototype of what would end up being a simple puzzle game where you play as a gopher, trying to eat all the cabbages in a path without backtracking. I believe you can still play it on my very old and very out of date website, but you’ll need to have Java installed, and no one I know has Java in their browser these days.”
So yeah, after i found out that it's his first game and also know how to play it, i installed Java, opened the link in Internet Explorer (the browser that supports Java), and yeah, it worked.
This was recorded when i first try it, because i was surprised when this is actually working.
And yeah, it's an interesting game, and i can see why no one talks about this. But man, i think this needs to get archived.
