In this video I discuss my process of custom tuning my R53 2006 Cooper S. I talk about what a “tune” is, why I got one, and what different options are available for this and other platforms.
Here's my math on the +54hp claim. As mentioned in the video, we're talking about crank hp. Stock was measured at 168 by Mini back in 2006. These dyno (which is whp) at around 197whp with my mods but to be conservative and consistent I went with 190whp which is what my app estimated. 190whp converts to 222 crank hp. 222 - 168 = +54 crank hp. Also keep in mind my estimate was in 2nd gear near redline but had I done 3rd gear near redline the numbers would be greater! It certainly feels like it.
Mods are exhaust, intake, supercharger reduction pulley 15%, 380cc injectors, tune.
