As America celebrates Independence Day, many of us are asking—independent for who?
From the Nat Turner Rebellion to the bombing of Black Wall Street, the MOVE bombing in Philadelphia, and the lack of justice for Black lives stolen by white mobs and state violence—Black Americans have long resisted a system that was never designed to protect us.
Today, as DEI initiatives are being dismantled, our history is being whitewashed, and our communities remain under surveillance and threat, the question remains:
