Basic attacks consist of claws, powerful kicks, and parries
▫️ There are also special abilities like the Tornado Spin and Knee Breaker
▫️ There are time trials called Nightmare Trials, accessed via Nightmare Doors
▫️ Attacks build up your Rage Meter which has three tiers
▫️ Each tier unlocks new combat abilities and significantly more poweful attacks
▫️ Tier 2 unlocks Last Stand, Tier 3 unlocks Critical Strike takedowns
▫️ Some fights will have team-up combos with Mystique or Sabretooth at your side
▫️ Wolverine, Sabertooth, and Mystique are part of three person team known as Team X, led by Nathaniel Essex
▫️ Use Enhanced Senses to track enemies in stealth
▫️ Wolverine has different outfits and claw types
▫️ You can explore Lowtown and chat with allies like Jean Grey and Mystique at the Princess Bar, a sort of hub area
▫️ Discover hidden crates with upgrade materials and secret collectibles
▫️ Logan can leap between enemies to close the gap
▫️ Enemies are 'very aggressive'
▫️ Insomniac reitirates that Wolverine is the only playable character
▫️ Releasing September 15th on PS5 Tam played Marvel's Wolverine for a few hours and came away with these three takeaways:
🔘 Brutal combat
🔘 No X-Men
🔘 Jean Grey is... different #WolverinePS5!
The combat feels exactly how a Wolverine game should. Fast, fluid and BRUTAL in all its M Rated glory. We got to fight a Sentinel and it was INSANE (there was even a fastball special 👀). First clip of Troy Baker as Nathanial Essex in Insomniac's ‘WOLVERINE’.
Overall, I can't wait to play the full thing next month! Combat is incredibly fluid and there's great combo variety
- Amazing detail in the gore especially on Wolverine when damaged (can straight up see his skeleton at points)
- Fresh take on Logan's journey while also setting up some insane comic storylines
- Traversal/parkour in open spaces have lots of options for movement (really fun chase sequence using this)
