It's the peak of moronity to place morality, human moral values outside humans! In many, many books (necessarily about evolution) the processes in natural selection which lead to the moral values we are aware of, are explained These are more modern books. In just as many, if not more, books the processes by which society develops, changes and improves, one can learn how moral values through history have been developed and adjusted, by people themselves. One more contribution to our moral values is the family and close circle of friends. This is many-layered, complicated way of explaining morality. The competing explanation with god giving morality to people is simplistic, ignorant, and wrong! It cannot explain how atheists get their morality.
