Candlepin Challenge - February 24th, 2007 Wolfman12395 2024-04-28 | Special thanks again to Bob Whitcomb himself for providing yet another EPIC match from the 2006 - 2007 season of the Candlepin Challenge itself. After rolling a monster 307 two game total the week before against Gary Duffett, Bob Whitcomb had to defend his championship reign in this match against the winner of the challengers match, which featured Joe Schifferdecker taking on Eric Young. The challenger's match in this show was awesome in itself and featured some great shots and some VERY lucky breaks too (13:00 was just crazy!!!), but the Championship match was even more incredible and featured a pretty rare stat too when the match was all over. Candlepin Challenge - February 17th, 2007 Wolfman12395 2024-04-04 | Special thanks again to Bob Whitcomb himself for providing this AWESOME show :) This was pretty much from the mid-point of the 2006 - 2007 season of the Candlepin Challenge, with this telecast in particular featuring Stu Bergman taking on Bob Whitcomb in the challenger's match, with the winner having to face off against Gary Duffett who was going for his fourth win in a row overall.This was a great show that really featured a GREAT performance heading down the stretch, that actually led to one of the bowlers posting one of the highest pin fall totals from that season overall!Hope you all enjoy :)
Candlepin Challenge - June 16th, 2007 (CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW) Wolfman12395 2024-03-11 | Special thanks to Bob Whitcomb for providing this show that I have been trying to find for quite some time now. :) This was the final show of the 2006 - 2007 season of the Candlepin Challenge, featuring the top three bowlers from that season with the highest two game totals overall during a single show (excluding any results from the youth shows like the ones Dave Godwin, myself and John Joyce were on.)The top three bowlers featured on this show were: John Zappi, with a 312 two game set from his win on 10/28/06Bob Whitcomb, with a 311 two game set from his win on 2/24/07Jeff Surette, with a 302 two game set from his win on 4/28/07.The opening match in this show features Jeff Surette as the #3 seed, taking on Bob Whitcomb as the #2 seed, with the winner facing #1 seed John Zappi in the two game finale to determine who would win the top prize of $5,000. The other finishers would each receive $2,500 for coming in 2nd place and $1,000 for third place.This telecast was definitely a fun one to watch that featured clutch shot making when it mattered most, and also had an exciting finish as well that went right down to the last frames to determine who would take home the top prize.Hope you all enjoy, R.I.P. Legend Tom Olszta came in as Gary's challenger in this particular show, and I can basically say that I agree 100% with what Don Gillis said at the beginning of this program that it was a show that we definitely couldn't wait to see when it came to these two facing off against each other. After defeating Billy Travers the week before, Mike Morgan came into this show having to take on Tom Olszta as the show was only roughly a month and a half away from its annual Championship show. This you could call a match between two former Championship show winners in this show, with Tom having won three up to this point and Mike having won himself in 1978. Lemme tell you, this match was a VERY memorable one to watch, with lots of great shot making from both bowlers and lots of bonus money too, but also included a CLUTCH performance down the stretch that led to one of the highest posted scores of the 1992 - 1993 season of the show! This program really set the stage for an INCREDIBLY dramatic finish to end the season itself, with this telecast being the last chance for either bowler to qualify for the 1988 True Value Championship Show. Steve had rolled a very nice 411 triple the week before, but wanted to better that on this show and certainly put on a GREAT performance that led him to do just that. UNFORTUNATELY, it all pretty much meant nothing in the end, as his very high scoring in this show only got him the 6th place alternate position for the True Value Championship show that year, which was ultimately won by Paul Berger.Either way, this match is a great one overall and hope you enjoy :)

(Just about a month before Paul Berger would roll his 500 triple on Channel 5 itself) Things started off pretty slowly in this match between both bowlers, only to really pick up for one of the bowlers down the stretch that led to a good amount of strikes and some great shot making too. Even though this match wasn't really a classic battle, it's still one of the very first Channel 5 shows that my family had saved from back in the day on VHS and was a favorite of mine to watch growing up. 1991 True Value Candlepin Bowling Championship - Full Telecast (Poor quality) Wolfman12395 2023-03-27 | (PLEASE NOTE: I apologize for the quality issues that this show has, with the choppy video and sound at times, I have no way of being able to fix this since this was a DVD copy of the show that I have. If I ever find a better quality version of this show, I will most likely re-upload it again in the future. This is the last Championship show I have that is being re-uploaded in higher quality, in HD and in one piece compared to when I first uploaded this in 2008.) Air date: 8/24/1991. This was the big event on Channel 5 to wrap up the 1990-1991 season of the program, with this telecast featuring the top five bowlers from that season that rolled the highest three string totals on the show itself. This show also featured an incredible story with Gary Casey coming in as the top seed, having rolled his huge 462 triple the same day on the regular daytime program, in which you can see here: youtu.be/6SGCqJugkQoThis was also the first Championship show that went from having a bracketed format, to a stepladder format to see who would come out on top to win the overall $10,000 grand prize. This meant that the prize money distribution would also be slightly altered, with the 4th place finisher winning $1,500 and the 5th place finisher winning $1,000. (Beforehand, both finishers would tie for 4th in the original bracket format, winning $1,250 each.) The stepladder format and prize money breakdown would remain in place for the rest of the Championship shows each year afterward, up through the last one that would happen in 1995.The top five bowlers from this telecast were: Gary Casey, Gary Carrington, Tom Olszta, Joe Tavernese, and Paul Berger. Overall, this was a GREAT show, with strikes and spares all over the place in this one as well as great shot making from the bowlers, to go along with a VERY big charge from one of the bowlers that was trying to climb up the ladder with the new format for that year's big show. In what was the 2nd overall Championship show that was held at the Pilgrim Lanes in Haverhill, this was the big annual event on Channel 5 to wrap up the 1988-1989 season of the program, featuring the top five bowlers with the highest triples from that season itself. This was also the first Championship event to feature Ed Harding on color commentary instead of Brian Leary, helping out Don Gillis when it came to calling the overall show, with previous Champion Dick O'Connell also joining in as well. The top five bowlers from this telecast were: Tom Olszta, Steve Renaud, Det Klein, Jim Kelly, and Jeff Atkins. This was a fantastic show overall, featuring very high scores nearly all around along with great shot making, and CLUTCH performances as well during certain matches.Hope you all enjoy, R.I.P. In what was the 2nd to last overall Championship show on Channel 5, this was the big event to wrap up the 1993-1994 season of the program, featuring the top five bowlers that had the highest three string totals all around from that particular season to see who would take home the top prize of $10,000. This show would also make history as being the only Championship show to feature a female competitor in the field of the top five bowlers. Candlepin Stars & Strikes - Blanca Gacharna/Steve Vadney vs. Joanne Ruzzano/Rich Clark Wolfman12395 2023-03-11 | (Re-uploaded in full and in HD) I had this match uploaded before but the previous upload was missing a decent portion of the overall show, so here's the full version of this mixed doubles match, which was the 2nd overall match of the annual Mixed Doubles event from the 2003-2004 season of Stars & Strikes.This particular match features the team of Blanca Gacharna and Steve Vadney taking on the team of Joanne Ruzzano and Rich Clark. This match went back and forth especially heading down the stretch in the 3rd game, but also featured a CLUTCH finish by one of the teams when all was said and done.Hope you all enjoy :)

The air date of this show was 5/28/1989. This was the 2nd match to the inaugural Tri-State Megabucks Tournament of Champions, with Mike Morgan going for his 2nd win in a row, having to face off against Scott Rondelli. This match started off with a bang from one of the bowlers, though things quickly turned and in the end, made this match a very close one down the stretch.Hope you enjoy, R.I.P. Dan Murphy.

Candlepin Stars & Strikes - Scott Richardson vs. Scott Rondelli Wolfman12395 2023-02-22 | Special thanks to Scott Rondelli himself for providing the tape to this match that aired from April of 1989 ^_^ (I think the exact air date was 4/16/1989?)This was the Championship show to the 5th overall ladder series from the 1988-1989 season of the program itself, featuring Scott Richardson trying to win three matches in a row, having to take on the top seed Scott Rondelli to determine the second to last overall qualifier for the inaugural Tournament of Champions that year. A very quick start by one of the bowlers including some FANTASTIC shot making really set the stage in this match, to go along with some high scores too that made this a fun show to watch. At least one of the frames in this match was also featured in the future intro to Stars & Strikes as a whole for the next several seasons afterward. Hope you all enjoy :)

This was also the final stretch of the 1988-1989 season of the program, with the True Value Championship show happening only 3 weeks after this match aired.Some great shots and a quick start by one of the bowlers as well that really set the stage for this telecast as a whole. Candlepin Bowling - Wayne Dennen vs. Dave Richards Wolfman12395 2023-02-11 | Thanks to Scott Rondelli for providing the tape of this EPIC match that aired on 4/18/1992, just two weeks before Paul Berger would come in and roll his legendary 500 triple on the program.This particular telecast featured Dave Richards going for his second win in a row, having to take on his friend Wayne Dennen after Dave had dethroned Phil Harris the week before.There's no doubt that this was right up there as one of the most energetic matches from the 1991-1992 season of the program, and it features one of the most EXCITING middle strings I can remember watching between two bowlers, with marks everywhere, a good amount of bonus money and a close match heading down the stretch.Hope you all enjoy, R.I.P.
