Though it's not exactly new news, it was shown about two weeks ago that member of NJPW's major faction, Bullet Club have been Tweeting out to CM Punk, stating that they've got a Bullet Club Shirt with "Best in the world" on the back of it.
Though I don't know how good of friends that AJ Styles & CM Punk are, but along with Styles, DOC Gallows (formerly Luke Gallows) has also been talking to people in Japan on brining in Punk if Punk wanted to. There's no doubt that NJPW would take Punk, but Punk has made no response about it on Twitter or anywhere else.
CM Punks contract expires in July, many people seem to feel that Punk will return at Packback in June because it's in his home state, this hasn't been the first time fans thought he'd return, and those times, he didn't. Likely he won't return to WWE at all, it's quite possible that he is done with wrestling itself, just the other day he talked about retiring himself. It's possible he'd do one last run just for the fans, so they have a good memory of him, and if the money is right, NJPW seems like the best place for him, however Punk himself said that he does not owe the WWE or the WWE fans an explanation. (Does that mean just WWE fans, or fans themselves?)
He'll have a 90 day no compete clause, however that only has to do with North American promotions, such as TNA, AAA, CMLL, RoH and so forth, however the day his contract expires he can go to Japan, similar to what Brock Lesnar did about a decade ago.
