This is generally desirable, especially for offshore wind turbines. More height and larger diameters mean more energy captured with fewer towers. But as you can probably imagine, this makes producing, transporting, and installing these things a colossal undertaking. And as wind turbine manufacturers have competed against each other, the push to maximize size has ended up undermining quality.
