When I first started picking, I would often wonder why I couldn't push a pin any further, yet it certainly wasn't set. I soon learned that frequently my pick was too shallow to get over the warding, so it wasn't the pin that wouldn't move, rather the pick couldn't move because the warding was preventing it.
