This is where the episode gets its name. Silicon Valley's whole worldview rests on one idea: that nature is a self-balancing system, and so human society can be too. Adam Curtis shows it was always fake. It was never nature. It's the dream of the machines, a reflection of how they're organized. They promised in the 90s the machines would make everything great.
