I very very rarely have what I call 'near misses'. In fact my rides are pretty uneventful in relation to dangerous situations. Sometimes however, things out of the ordinary can happen and put us in unusual circumstances and leave us vulnerable. Here I explain a scenario where I found myself stuck in a lane and discuss my options. Could I have predicted the events that unfolded? No way, there's always someone out there that will always raise the bar of stupidity but this is an example of where more forward thinking might have helped and maybe why we should always consider moving in to the lane we need maybe a little earlier than might be considered acceptable, or why keeping left unless overtaking isn't necessarily the best thing to do.
