The Easy Flash 3 (EF3) is one of the most versatile utility cartridges available for the Commodore 64, offering kernel replacement, utility/freezer cartridge support, and CRT game flashing. In this video, I break down the three main pillars of the Easy Flash 3, demonstrate how it restores JiffyDOS on stock breadbin C64s with surface-mounted kernels, and show how to flash massive multi-carts using EasyProg and Software IEC.
We’ll also look at using the Easy Flash 3 alongside the C64 Ultimate, including how to fix the dreaded Super Snapshot freeze/crash issue!
If you enjoy retro computing, hardware tutorials, and C64 guides, make sure to like, subscribe, and ring the notification bell for more content from MonroeWorld!
COIRRECTION: I mentioned the kernal was surface mounted in this video. Dammit, Jim I'm a doctor .. not an engineer. The CBM kernal IC is in fact a "soldered dual in-line package". You could remove it and replace it with socket. With an actual surface mounted chip, you don't have that luxury.
