- Here's RM Williams' US store: stridewise.com/rm-williams-chelsea-boots
Nope, they didn't pay me any money, but here are some other videos I filmed on this trip:
* Factory tour: how RMW makes Australia's boots youtube.com/watch?v=Lyeugwh6Des
* Why Australia's richest man bought RM Williams stridewise.com/rm-williams-andrew-forrest-interview
* RM Reborn: a complete boot repair operation youtube.com/watch?v=vrVws-6bmz8
As an Australian born New Yorker, one question always strikes me when I visit my homeland: do Australians know how to tie shoelaces? Because whether it's with shorts on a jobsite or a suit in parliament, there's only one kind of boot you see on Australian feet: the Chelsea boot, which they often called "elastic-sided boots."
Is it because of our small population? Does our nation's young make us simply more practical? Or are there deeper cultural issues at play? I asked everyone I could find and got a bunch of different takes.
