A recent episode on Grace Force is titled "Many Are Falling Prey to the Devil's Tactics in These Times." It sounds like a warning about outside threats to the faith.
But when you actually listen — the "devil's tactics" they're describing are Catholics who ask questions. Catholics who raise concerns. Catholics who dare to critique clergy or Catholic influencers.
In this episode, I walk through the exact quotes and show you the rhetorical pattern at work:
→ Lay Catholics who speak up are dismissed as "super Catholics coming out of the woodwork"
→ Criticism of clergy is framed as demonic activity — literally fueled by the enemy
→ The word "speech" is placed alongside "slander" and "slaughter"
→ And all of this comes from voices who describe themselves as balanced and above the fray
This isn't discernment. It's a closed loop that protects authority from scrutiny by making the act of questioning spiritually suspect.
What does the Church actually say? Canon 212 §3 gives the faithful not just the right — but sometimes the duty — to make their opinions known on matters that concern the good of the Church. That's not the devil talking. That's the Magisterium.
We can do better than this. And we deserve better than being told our conscience is demonic.
