This is part one of a discussion between Dave Darby of Lowimpact.org and the Open Credit Network and Debbie Clarke of the Unicorn Grocery. Part of a series of videos about the work of people building the new economy.
We’re interviewing key players in the new economy, to:
a) bring their work to a wider audience
b) try to find ways to co-ordinate their efforts
c) stimulate debate
d) help to grow the new economy.
By new economy, we mean an economy whose component parts are democratic and non-extractive, rather than undemocratic and extractive.

Thanks also to the Open Co-op: https://open.coop/
Highlights
1. The reason we set up was for these principles of fair and sustainable trade, wholesome food, solidarity and cooperation - and I think those sorts of drivers are really interesting to people at the moment.
2. It’s an incredibly empowering way to work - to really feel ownership of the business, and so much pride that comes with being an owner of a business that we feel is doing pretty decent job.
3. Like for like we aim to be competitive with the supermarkets. It's hard to compare a loaf of Happy Shopper bread to overnight-fermented, organic flour breads. But with basic products where comparison is is easy, our prices are really competitive.
