What does it mean to lead humanistically in a moment when the path forward is uncertain?
At the 2026 Resnick Aspen Action Forum, more than 350 Fellows and 100 youth leaders from over 30 countries gathered to wrestle with what it means to be human, reconnect with what makes us feel alive, and consider what it takes to build the future we hope for.
Across four days of reflection, honest conversation, creativity, and connection, a key idea stayed with us: the structures that brought us here may not be enough to build what tomorrow needs. Sometimes leadership asks us to step off the script, follow the call to adventure, and choose courage even when the outcome is unclear.
Calling in the words of Wendell Berry, Dar Vanderbeck, Vice President of AGLN, reminded us: “Practice resurrection.” A call to step beyond what is predictable, reconnect with what makes us feel alive, and continually find the courage to imagine, create, and begin again.

Each summer, the Resnick Aspen Action Forum offers the opportunity for the Aspen Global Leadership Network to come together to reflect, refresh, and recommit to confronting some of society’s greatest challenges.
