What is that yellow spot on your eye? It's called a Pinguecula, also known as "Surfer's Eye".

Have you noticed a weird yellow or red spot on your eye? A common question I get in the clinic is "what is this yellow spot on my eye?" This spot is usually on the white part of the eye, and it's called a pinguecula. A common term used is "surfer's eye". This video explains what a pinguecula is, how it can turn into a pinguecula or a pterygium, and what the pinguecula treatment is. It's very common to have this yellow spot in your eye. Sometimes this spot can also get irritated and become a red spot or inflamed, called a pingueculitis. If the growth grows over the cornea, then it is called a pterygium. A pinguecula is usually on the white of the eye. Causes are usually from dry eyes and uv damage.
