Firstly, I cannot begin to tell you how much I love Hollowknight: Silksong! Last year I decided I was going to get through Hollowknight. It was one of those games I had briefly played years before but never anywhere near to completion. I'm not sure what came over me. I just quick quickly fell in love with the game and played it to completion quickly. So when Silksong came out, I got it pretty much immediately and quite quickly liked it even more than Hollowknight (despite it feeling quite more difficult). I've now completed the game after numerous destroyed controllers (I'm kidding).
The string instruments in the original have this really lovely "wooden" sound that I like. "But violins are wooden!" What I mean is that you can almost hear the resonance of the wood given how close and intense everything feels in the original. I love the way they sound and wanted to do my best to replicate it. I used LA Scoring Strings for this as they came closest to that sound. Beyond that, in terms of the arrangement I was heavily inspired by Final Fantasy mainly for the rhythmic elements. I also love a good slow piano section in many of my arrangements so it features here too! Thanks for watching!
