Three years ago Dave Wemhoff on the show Israel critiqued the Supreme Court Nominee, Amy Coney Barrett when she competed with Brett Kavanaugh. The discussion then is still relevant today. Here is the description Dave now gives for this show:
Amy Coney Barrett is in the news again. Remember, she is the Catholic law professor at the University of Notre Dame who in 2017 was nominated by President Donald Trump to serve as an appellate judge for the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals. Now, with the death of RBG (Ruth Bader Ginsburg), ACB is being considered as an associate justice for the SCOTUS (Supreme Court of the United "States).
The blogosphere, social media, and main stream press is on fire with partisans of all kinds screaming their support for or screaming their opposition to ACB! (And no one seems to be talking about Covid19 anymore.) Of course, it's an election year and the stakes are high for President Trump who has endured an impeachment and trial, and the Covid19 situation, and an insurgency funded by the international capitalists. He needs an energized base to win against his opponents who are throwing everything at him including the kitchen sink. So goes the hope, he'll pick Super Catholic ACB (she has 7 children, is married to the same guy, and spouts pro-life). With her on SCOTUS, the conservatives claim, things will once again be righted and decisions like Roe v Wade will be overruled.
But will they? No, nothing will change if ACB makes it to the SCOTUS.
That's because she made clear to Senators Durbin and Feinstein in September, 2017 that she wouild support and defend the US Constitution which includes the First Amendment, an evil that Catholicism says we can only tolerate. It is the First Amendment that created a society in which the Divine Positive Law cannot form the basis of the statutes and policies of the government, and so as a result statutes prohibiting the sale of contraceptives, the performance of abortions, and "gay marriage" were all struck down as unconstitutional by the SCOTUS.
ACB may be on record as supporting "original intent" as a means of analyzing the Constitution, but she is also on record as saying that she will check her Catholicism at the door. It's anyone's guess whether she is even aware of Catholicism's condemnation of the First Amendment, and if she isn't that is further evidence of the success of the American Doctrinal Warfare Program to get and keep Catholics on board with the American Experiment.
Catholics can advance in America, ACB is no exception, as long as they just burn incense to the false gods of the First Amendment.
