Fixate:Midrange is a new intelligent EQ from Newfangled Audio and Eventide that targets the busiest part of your mix. Six processors, one analyse-and-fix workflow. Here is how it cleans up the middle on real material.
Most of the musical message lives in the midrange, and it is the hardest region to keep clean because melody, harmony, texture and ambience all fight for the same space. Instead of a traditional parametric EQ, Fixate:Midrange runs incoming audio against a critical-band model and only processes where the signal needs it.
We test all six. Demud, Dethin, Dehonk, Denasal and Deharsh each tackle a named resonance problem, while the Spectral Balance section corrects broader tonal imbalance across 15 bands. The one-button analyse and fix workflow gets you a result fast, and the HINTMAP display shows the problem frequencies if you want to dial it in by hand.
