We had two incomes, a nice house in a great neighborhood, and two nice cars. We were living the dream, but then everything changed when JP started losing the ability to walk.
Two major spinal surgeries later and our income was down, but our debt was growing. Rather than take out a second mortgage, we decided to sell everything we own and move abroad to enjoy a higher quality life for a lower cost of living.
You may not realize it, but this is also an option for you! If you're drowning in debt or haven't been able to save enough for retirement, moving abroad may be the solution to your financial struggles.
It doesn't have to be forever, either. You can move to a lower cost country for a few years and then move back home. Although, we think you'll enjoy your new life so much that you won't want to!
