Join me for a landscape photography adventure through Achill Island and the Mayo coast as I explore one of Irelandβs most impressive coastal areas.
The day began on Achill Island after photographing the coastline at sunset the evening before. With sunrise not producing the conditions we hoped for, we decided not to force the shot and instead continued our journey, taking in one of Irelandβs best coastal drives before heading onto mainland Mayo.
Along the way, I explored new locations, used my drone to understand the landscape from above, and photographed dramatic cliffs, distant sea stacks and Atlantic views.
The conditions were far from perfect. The light was flat, the clouds were thick, and expectations were low. However, landscape photography often comes down to patience and being willing to wait for the moment when everything changes.
In this video, I share the photographs I captured, the decisions behind the compositions, how I used different lenses, and why sometimes the best images happen when you least expect them.
Remember, there are no bad conditions in landscape photography, only different opportunities.
