Since I can't seem to get my old CD-Rom copy of Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness to run anymore, my next best place to get my Warcraft II fix is the PS1. The PS1 version definitely has it's issues when compared tot he PC original, but it still has the timeless Warcraft II design. I love Warcraft II in all forms. I even own the Saturn port of the game. I cannot tell you how many hours I spent playing the PC version back in the day. I loved playing custom scenario modes against the computer controlled teams, and even played around a lot with the map editor. Good times.
The PS1 doesn't have a map editor, which is understandable, and the scenarios mode has been scaled back. That being said, even the PS1 port of the game is still really fun. Yes, it's not as good as the PC version, but it still has those same addictive qualities and that same great design of the PC version. I can't get the PC version to run, and my Saturn stopped reading disks, so, for the time being, the PS1 port satiates my Warcraft II craving. Not the best port in the world, but it's fun, and playing with the controller is second nature to me, because I played the crap out of Command and Conquer- Red Alert: Retaliation on the PS1 as well. PS1 mouse would work better, but I don't own a PS1 mouse.
