The Aputure COB 300D will give you as much light as 142000 lux at 0.5 meters with a Fresnel mount, which makes it approximately equivalent to a 2000 watts tungsten lamp or a 400 watts HMI (those lamps are way more expensive, are warmer, heavier and bigger). In addition to being a strong daylight lamp with around 5500 Kelvin, it has a high CRI and TLCI value. This means that the lamp produces natural colors. Many cheap led lamps tend to make a greenish artificial light which makes it hard to color-correct natural skin tones in post.
The Aputure 300D is built with aluminum and weighs 2.1 kilos. The lamp has the widely used Bowens mount so you can use many types of accessories, like softboxes etc. You get a Bowens mount reflector with it, a controller box to power on and off the lamp, dim it and customize how you want to operate it with the remote controller. The remote operates at 2.4 GHz radio frequency, letting you control the lamp up to 150 meters away.
Can we light a whole horror film with just the 300D and two reflectors?

Let’s talk about it in this video! Get our full course here: andyax.com/course
Almost every new camera nowadays can shoot in ultra high resolutions such as 4k, even my phone! So why even consider shooting HD? Here are some benefits of shooting in lower resolutions:
1. Many cameras like, the black Magic Pocket 6k Pro, can shoot with much higher frame rates in HD compared to 4k and up.
2. HD material takes a lot less space. When I shoot in HD on the 6k Pro, it takes over 4 times less space then shooting 4k. I don’t even need expensive cards to capture it, I can use slower SD cards that are more affordable.
3. The workflow becomes so much easier with super fast rendering, scrubbing, stabilizing etc. And is it one thing that is demanded nowadays, it is a fast workflow.

0:00 Intro 0:32 What a long name! 1:39 Specs of the camera 2:58 Battery grip and viewfinder 3:35 Why a small camera is good 4:22 The creative challenge 5:53 Shooting with the camera 8:32 The result/testfilm 9:53 Post production 13:43 Summing up 14:28 Wanna join swimming?
The Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K PRO specs: - Super 35 size sensor with 6144 x 3456 pixels - 13 stops of dynamic range - 6K RAW up to 50fps, Prores 4k up to 60fps, Prores HD up to 120fps - 1,500 nit adjustable HDR touchscreen screen - Two mini XLR inputs with phantom power - Minijack input - Headhpone out - Full size HDMI - USB-C output which means you can record directly to an SSD drive. This gives you a lot more storage for your money. But remember, an SSD drive might not be as reliable as a CF fast card or SD card as they are meant for continuous video recording. - The camera has a built in ND which varies from 2, 4, and 6 stops. That’s a great upgrade.
And, what I love is that you get all of this in a relatively small body and great price of $2,495.00.
When it comes to the battery life, it can now use use a larger NP-F570 battery (60min 6k raw 24fps to CFast 2.0 cards with 50% brightness. That's up from the 45 minutes from the LP-E6 batteries that the previous version used). Put it doesn’t stop there. You can now also get a batteri grip for your camera which stores two more batteries.
And last but not least, you are also able to buy a viewfinder for this camera. A viewfinder is great to use when there is a lot of sunlight making it easier to see exactly what you record, and you will save battery power during shoot. This viewfinder will not work on the previous version.
I think that an important aspect for any filmmakers is to be able to move around quickly. It’s especially important for those who have just started filmmaking or do many small paid projects. You don’t want the camera to be a barrier, It should be a part of you in a way. Then you can more easily test out angles and take some chances.Investing in a $10k camera | Making a Film Company S2E4Andyax2021-03-19 | After spending a lot of money on a fantasy film and still living under corona restrictions, we show you how our film production company have been able to survive. When making a fantasy film it requires a lot of production aspects such as a cinematographer, a director, makeup, sound, props, costumes etc. So we had to gather a big crew. See how the first days of the shoot went in this episode!

Suddenly, Anders remembered his dream of making a fantasy film. Could we use the time to create something that potentially also could impress customers in some way?
So, despite Covid-19, fewer filmmaking jobs, less income, and a generally uncertain future, things started to progress.
A couple of coincidences combined with the drive of the people at VJUS, resulted in the birth of our biggest YouTube project to date, even surpassing the Camera Hack.
However, unlike the Camera Hack, we did not crowdfund this project. Due to the limited time we had, we decided we'd go for sponsorships instead. We explain how we approached sponsors for the project, and the challenges connected to this process that you should be aware of if you try this path yourself.
As a company, we are taking a huge financial risk with this project as we spend both our time and our limited resources to create this. Luckily, thanks to a couple of products we made earlier, we did manage to get some sort of steady income for the company, despite the situation going on in the world.
Pulling off an epic fantasy film with little time and money is not an easy feat. A project like this requires several things in order to be a success. Here's a few areas you will explore in season 2:
- How we went from idea to finished project - How to assemble a crew - Casting - Props - Location scouting - Filming with animals (horses) - How to get sponsored by companies - The choices and

The insta 360 is an action camera that can be modified to fit your purpose. You'll be able change camera modules so you can either film with a wide angle lens, a standard lens or even a 360 lens.
The Wiral Lite is a cable camera system that lets you send your camera in high speed between two points.
The Zhyiun Crane S3 is a motorized gimbal which can handle quite heavy cameras. It also comes with an app that lets you control the gimbal remotely and adjust the settings to make it fit your needs. So that is why we wanted to test it out with our Panasonic EVA1 cinema camera.

I’m a Norwegian filmmaker and as a person who has to think creatively and come up with original ideas, I’ve seen that this can be a struggle. I’ve seen friends getting depressed on the pressure of creating.
So I’ve gathered some filmmaking friends and a doctor to talk about this. And it felt good, almost therapeutic to simply talk about this. That’s why I wanted to share our conversation with you. And what the doctor said was quite interesting.

What gear to bring on set can vary a lot from production to production. It depends on what kind of result you want, how complex the scenes are and how fast you want to shoot. The commercial we shot for JetKids needed well looking images as they wanted to showcase their travel products. JetKids makes suitcases for children, which can turn a seat into a bed!
The client told us about an airplane which we could use for this shoot. As the plane had to be on ground, we had to fake that it was flying. We could just burn out the windows and make it completely white to cover the fact that we were not flying, but as a director I thought we should use a greenscreen so we could add a custom sky afterwards. That could also help us tell a story about a family traveling during night and using the clients product to sleep and have comfortable flight.
We thought that we should have moving images to make the commercial a bit more interesting. I immediately thought about using the iFootage mini crane M1-III, which I have been using for over 4 years now. Could we fit this inside the plane and use our dolly with it? If so, we could then create smooth shots and vary the angles quite fast.
We chose to use our Panasonic EVA1 as the main camera with the Sigma 18-35mm. And as we were going to use a lot of moving shots, a focus puller was essential. I had been using the Tilta Nucleus-M in a previous project, and was very happy with it!
On this shoot we also tested the Accsoon Cineye video transmitter. It transmits 1080p video signal to smart devices such as ipads and smartphones. And with their software you can actually record the video on your phone or tablet as well! All you do is to connect it to your camera and connect the smart device to the cineye through wifi. The range is 100 metres in open spaces and the latency is about 60ms which is enough to do focus pulling in most types of shots.
