He returned to Earth the following March. Prior to being selected by NASA in 2000, the Mt. The duo will launch aboard Boeing's Starliner spacecraft atop a United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket from the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida. The mission serves as the final flight test for the Starliner spacecraft and will be its first mission with crew. The mission will also validate the transportation system, including the launch pad, rocket, spacecraft, in-orbit operational capabilities, and return to Earth with astronauts aboard. Following launch, Wilmore and Williams will spend about a week aboard the space station and then return to Earth, landing in the western United States.
Wilmore is the commander for the mission. A veteran of two spaceflights, Wilmore has spent 178 days in space. In 2009, he served as a pilot aboard space shuttle Atlantis for STS-129. He served as a flight engineer for Expedition 41 until November 2014, when he assumed command of the station upon arrival of the Expedition 42 crew. He returned to Earth the following March. Wilmore was selected by NASA in 2000 to become an astronaut. He is a graduate of the United States Test Pilot School and holds a both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Tennessee Technological University, Cookeville. He is a retired captain in the U.S. Navy.

Astronauts are scheduled to put on their spacesuits and work outside of the space station three times this summer, and Dominick demonstrates how he is helping to size the spacesuits while demonstrating some of their capabilities.
Dominick became a NASA astronaut in 2017. He is from Wheat Ridge, Colorado, and earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of San Diego, California, and a master’s in systems engineering from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California. He is an active-duty U.S. Navy astronaut. He flew to the space station as commander of NASA’s SpaceX Crew-8 mission. This is his first spaceflight.

He flew aboard the space shuttle Discovery in 2011 on STS-133, which delivered the Permanent Multipurpose Module and fourth Express Logistics Carrier. He has spent a total of 212 days in space. Born in Vancouver, Washington, he Considers Camas, Washington, to be his hometown. Barratt earned a bachelor’s in zoology from the University of Washington, Seattle, and a doctor of medicine from Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois. He completed residencies in internal medicine at Northwestern and aerospace medicine along with a master’s degree at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. We did too, so we created "What's Behind this Door?" series. These will be 2- 3-minute video series targeted for both JSC employees and social media audiences. The series gives a behind-the-scenes look and explores behind different doors and facilities at NASA's Johnson Space Center. This episode features the Neutral Buoyancy Lab (NBL), which showcases how the facility is used for space station spacewalks and training, the important role of the dive teams, and how the facility will be used to prepare for the Artemis Program.NASA’s SpaceX Crew-8 Mission Training Resource ReelNASA Johnson2024-02-23 | NASA’s SpaceX Crew-8 crew trains for their upcoming mission to the International Space Station. Their training took place across the world, most notably at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas, and at SpaceX Headquarters in Hawthorne, California. The crew consists of NASA astronauts Matthew Dominick, commander; Michael Barratt, pilot; Jeanette Epps, mission specialist; and Roscosmos cosmonaut Alexander Grebenkin, mission specialist. Once aboard the space station, they’ll become expedition 70/71 flight engineers, spending several months conducting science experiments and maintaining the orbital outpost.
