Unknown Trials is a standard rock track with a few electronic elements thrown in. It's about how friendship conquers all, no matter how difficult the situation can be. It's inspired by early 2000's rock groups such as Trapt and Alein Ant Farm, as well as techno artists like CloudNone.
This is by far the most important track I've ever made so far. This is in celebration of a successful charity run for The American Heart Association (heart.org) back in September 2024, known as "Crush 40 Crushed 40k" in which my Twitch channel (twitch.tv/paulybfromda303) raised over $670 for the organization.
Because of this success, I had a chance to speak with @JohnnyGioeliOfficial himself, lead singer of Crush 40, Hardline, Axel Rudi Pell, and Enemy Eyes just a few months later live on Twitch. It was here that this collaboration started, a song I had in mind for over five years at this point. I already knew what I wanted for the most part. Soft, flowing synths with a rocky center here and there. Our guitarist, @UltraSonicHero really delivered that exciting feel with the guitars. He captured the feel I was going for. A huge thanks to his dedication for practicing and nailing it!
Learning so many things from Johnny about editing and control has been such a crazy experience! Finding better, more efficient ways to edit, evening out vocals, using different channels, it's all gonna make me a better composer in the future. I'm very grateful to The American Heart Association and all of our donors for the chance to do something like this.
Another huge thanks to the one who made the animation and put the video together, @magee_art. It was a lot of hard work and effort, and it was great seeing how much he could do with such simple instructions. Another example of how much of a learning experience this whole project was for everyone.
There's not much more I can say at this point. I'm very grateful for everyone around for all the love and support. This track itself is the very embodiment of my life blood and soul in audio form, so I hope you enjoy it and thank you very much for the listen!

My sixth livestream piece created live on Twitch twitch.tv/paulybfromda303, during which the "Crush 40 Crushes 40k" charity event for @American_Heart Association was taking place, so this is a tribute to the AHA, as well as a celebration piece for The Year of Shadow and the release of "Sonic X Shadow Generations". This remix of Mad Matrix was a fully synthesized rock cover, while trying to keep the integrity of an electronic level and original, I also tried to go for a biker-bar rock 'n roll feel as well, to incorporate Shadow's character.
There were no real instruments used this time, and every instrument is a synth of some sort, mostly custom-made and modified. We had quite a bit of fun playing with different settings, flangers, phasers, and new modifiers. Yes, NEW modifiers.
I'm proud to announce how we made the finishing touches. For the first time in nearly 15 years, I finally have Cakewalk Kinetic version 2! I owe another special thanks to the cover artist of this video, Alex Magee Art, who found and sent the upgrade. It came with all new instruments, new settings, and a new modifier. It's a version I had only used from 2008-2010, with the original registration website shutting down during my hiatus. I'm excited to take my music back into this new(er) era!
I hope you enjoy this edgy remix fit for the Edgy Hedgie himself! Happy Sonic X Shadow Generations release weekend, and thank you for tuning in!

My fifth livestream piece from my Twitch channel (twitch.tv/paulybfromda303) features the phenomenal, well-known electric violinist, Lionmight (formerly known as String Player Gamer) and myself playing the keyboards in place of the accordions. I've always wanted to do a track with real violins, and listening to Lionmight perform on his Twitch, hearing how he performs at various conventions, it was an easy choice. A special thanks for getting the job done quickly! He sent in his violin track within two days!
This all started when a post made by the original composer, Tomoya Ohtani, gave me inspiration to make a remix as a tribute to him and all of his hard work in the video game industry. I only wanted the best, which is why I also decided to do live instruments here. There was a little bit of a hold-up in the process, due to plans not coming to fruition, as well as a personal rough end to 2023. However, after persevering through tough situations, I'm ready to show off my passion and willpower with this remix of one of his underrated masterpieces
There were a lot of fun memories made with this track, as I had livestreamed the making of everything, including the recording sessions and retakes. Another special thanks goes out to all of my viewers who attended the shows, the love and support is what keeps me chasing my ultimate dreams.
Thanks for tuning in! I hope you like what you hear!

Due to where the inspiration initially came from, I have also nicknamed this project "Hill Top's Kitchen" to begin with. It started with a TV show's catchy, funky theme song getting stuck in my head for a few days, then it turned into research on a particular genre known as Funk, a genre with a ton of history not only musically, but within the Sonic universe as well. I get to thinking this could be a fun challenge, it took about 30 minutes for me to decide to go with a Sonic level this would really fit with, and one I've wanted to do for a long time: Hill Top Zone!
It's a genre I've explored very little before, however its similarity to jazz made it very easy to understand. It's a simple and yet deep genre starring brass instruments, slappy basses and guitars, electric organs, light and lifting drums, and cool-vibing jazzy chords. I threw in a piano solo in the middle to top it all off. Any time I needed to get a deeper sound out of an instrument, I would double-layer it with a different synth, and separate the two a little to the left, and a little to the right. I did the same thing with my voice. I feel like that gives it more of a jazz club atmosphere.
During the time this was made, there was a Sonic community charity event known as Raising Rings, where many of us content creators held a weekend long streamathon to raise funds for Special Effect, a charity that creates next level technology to help people with disabilities play video games again. As a celebration and a reward for reaching our goal, a special thanks goes out to donor Miamel and streamer Lunna7823. The goal was reached while I was live, so I offered Miamel a credit in this very video. On behalf of the Sonic community, the Raising Rings partakers, and Special Effect, thank you for making a positive impact around the world
I hope you enjoy this arrangement, not only as a celebration of Raising Rings, but as an indicator that my personal life is finally back on track. Thanks for tuning in!

It's been a long time since I've done a loopable track published in the style of most modern video game tracks! It's about a happy mermaid who sings karaoke in her fabulous 2-bedroom aquarium at the bottom of the ocean. It was created to loop for livestreams/information videos.
The commission only had a few specifications: Make it happy and include acoustic guitars strumming. I've taken a few of the guitar background MIDI's from previous tracks, created something playable on a real acoustic so that I can perform it with ease. I took the attitude of this track a little more lightly, so there's only three or four instruments playing at one time. I included easy-sounding synths as if it were a mermaid's siren.
I look forward to seeing the future use of this track! I hope it calls to you like the calls to the sailors! Thanks for the listen!

This track was commissioned to be used in an upcoming comic dub, "Mario and Sonic: FUSION MAYHEM". The scene in correlation is an intense kung-fu battle on Yoshi's Island, Surge using stealth and sneak attacks within pipes, and Mario's special powers like star invincibility and firepower. It's must-see total non-stop action!
The methods used this time were a little different, I was provided a script but no voiceovers, so I had to guess what was happening based on what I read. I also tried to make it sound like a boss fight, as if it were to be used in a game.
I took quite a bit of time exploring different effects to make familiar sounds not sound so bland or overused. Most of my inspiration came from action scenes from some of my favorite shows and movies from the past, in the way I tried to emulate a sneaky in-out method of attack, with all the clashes and the bass, and a bit of a rock-and-rollish synth that I've modified from past tracks I've created. Overall, it was a fun challenge.
I look forward to the day the dub comes out, and I hope my music lives up to the action in the scene. I will update this page when more details are released

What a celebration piece for my 35th birthday! This is my 4th livestream track and was made entirely on my livestream channel, twitch.tv/paulybfromda303. It was quite a journey, recording at the office I work at, managing my time to create, and showing everyone how a project is made
Here's a genre I haven't entirely touched in a while, though I have used hints of jazz in many other projects I've done. This was a great potential to really test my knowledge of the style and try new things, including inventing my own MIDI's, such as the clarinet and guitar. I was very proud of the effects I added to the piano to make it sound a little more realistic, and the solo came out great!
This was done with heavy inspiration from older media, such as Frank Sinatra and old-school Disney movies. Nice, easy, and flowing. However, the one thing that was difficult here, was that the mic I was using is very basic and low quality. It made editing a little more difficult, and I'm still not 100% satisfied with how it came out, but I learned a lot about how to deal with quality issues when it comes to editing, even came up with new strategies to fix the quality. Despite the issues, it was still easy to identify waveforms and edit accordingly, even with such detail.
Enjoy the night and make it yours! Thank you for checking out the remix! Don't forget to follow my Twitch to see these tracks in the making and much more!

Welcome to a relaxing tropical garden where creatures known as chao reside! It's Chao Garden! This here is a remix of the Chao Garden levels from BOTH Sonic Adventure DX, and Sonic Adventure 2: Battle, and it's a remix I've been wanting to do for a long time
This was a real test of my diversity and mixing abilities. It's a genre and style I've not touched in a while. I tried to emulate the relaxing feel of being in Chao Garden, raising chao in a stress-free environment. I also wanted to add a bit of a tropical feel to it, as the environment of the main Garden in Adventure 2, and even the Egg Carrier Garden of Adventure DX, was reminiscent of beach scenery. It was really fun working with different types of percussion and matching up sounds with the drums and the different kinds of instruments that one usually uses in tropical outlets
I played around with the pan shifting a little bit here in order to break up the monotony of repeating sequences. Listening to the original up close and personally really unlocked some memories of the past, but also gave me a good look at creating themes using sounds, meaning, giving the listener an idea of where or what is taking place. Audio art is a lot like visual art if you understand how that works
This song made its world premiere at Sonic Revolution 2023 in their first ever community live concert! It was very well received at the event, and I hope you all enjoy it as well. This was a moment I will never forget. Special thanks to Shayne, Lidice, and Kevin for making this all possible!
Original composer: Tomoya Ohtani Lyrics written/recorded: Pauly B

It's been a very rough year, both personally and productively. This piece was something I'd wanted to remix for a while, so this project was simply to get me back into the mood of composing and producing.
One thing that I love about Ohtani's work is just how similar our styles are, especially for someone who specializes in the Drum 'n Bass genre, as I aspire to be. I was able to play around with some effects and get more acquainted with some of the sounds that make Drum 'n Bass what it is. Every piece is a learning experience, you learn something new every bit you make.
This project actually took TWO of my DAW files to complete, it was so complex that you'll hear a total of 20 different instruments throughout this track! Everything from the two DAW files, to editing the vocals, provided great practice with lining things up together and mastering volumes to make everything blend in as perfectly as possible. Along with nine vocal clips, there were a few additional clips for effects and fillers, and I absolutely took the time to explore different effects and sounds. It's discovery at it's finest.
I hope you all enjoy the track! This is just the beginning of a wonderful year. I guarantee it. Thanks for tuning in!

My third piece created entirely on my Twitch livestream, twitch.tv/paulybfromda303, this was a donation reward request from MarinMermaid, who helped us reach our donation goal during a charity stream for Special Effect, specialeffect.org.uk
It had been about 15 years since I've done a remix of this piece, newgrounds.com/audio/listen/97338 / youtube.com/watch?v=GnckeaiMt2U, hence why it's called Act 2. While I wanted to keep a somewhat orchestral feel from the last one, I also wanted a more intense and jungly sounding beat. The chord combinations used in the original provided many options for wild solos and just having fun with the beat itself. This one was fun, and easy to do. It was mainly because of those many options I decided not to add lyrics to this one this time, It was enough just to have fun sequences and a showcase of instruments, like the electric piano I hardly use, or a synth that I've gotten really good feedback on so far. And before you know it, you have five minutes worth of material. I had a lot of fun doing new things with this track, while keeping some aspects of my old remix as well.
This song made its world premiere at the recent Chaos Creators event in Dallas, TX, a yearly event celebrating content creators throughout the Sonic community. My second remix made entirely on livestream, started in celebration of the release of Sonic Colors Ultimate! Feel free to follow my Twitch at twitch.tv/paulybfromda303 and stay tuned for more music projects and Sonic games!
It was really fun showing the process of this particular remix because the community itself took part! In a request to my followers on my channel, and my Twitter (twitter.com/PaulyBFromDa303) for certain voice clips, the response was amazing! We had 8 people join in for a total of 10 clips including my own of people singing along. I'm very grateful. It was fun editing, mixing and rendering each and every one of them. It came out very well
As far as the instrumentals go, one of my favorite things was taking a MIDI of two different guitars, mixing them down, changing features and settings, to create FOUR types of guitars used in this very piece. It took very careful mathematics and accuracy to create the strumming effects for the guitars, but it's something I'm used to by now as I've done this before.
A lot of inspiration for this remix came from another cover of this track done by Hyper Potions, which you may be able to hear in the happy attitude of the synths. The thought process of the lyrics was to send a positive message to keep going through tough times and obstacles. A positive message to match a positive atmosphere of a Tropical Resort. It helped to have a very upbeat track to work with.
Many thanks to everyone for listening! I hope you like what you hear! Stay tuned for much more!

This here is a tribute to celebrate 60 years of SEGA, and is published just in time. This song was created about seven months ago and kept secret for a very special occasion . . . on the last day of the year to celebrate what can possibly be called the 60th anniversary, so you can truly send it off in a way that tells you that "The Future Awaits".
The main reason I started this project in the first place was a discussion that took place, that made me realize that I need more original tracks in my repertoire. The point of how this was put together was to combine my personal adrenaline-pumping, fast-paced style, while staying true to the happy-sounding, upbeat fashion that many SEGA games are known for. A theme song of sorts. Something that makes you really look forward to what's next. This also explains some of the chord sequences, specifically closer towards loop-ends and crescendos.
You'll hear a lot of what we like to call "Easter Eggs" all throughout this piece. Most of the inspiration from this track came from many of the musicians that you hear in Sonic Games, such as Hyper Potions, Tee Lopes, Tomoya Ohtani and Jun Senoue. Even though my resources were limited for this one, as far as it goes, I was hoping to utilize a lot of my program's capabilities, get a little more used to the science of adding effects, and being more even and symmetrical with the sounds used.
This song took 11 days start to finish. I was heavily motivated and determined with this piece. I hope you all enjoy the fruits of hope and chasing dreams. A special thank you to every SEGA entity for 60 years of hard work, spreading entertainment and joy to the entire world. I hope this fortune of gratitude carries over for generations. Here's to the future!

It's the holiday season once more, and we're celebrating it Sonic style! This song was made for Chaos Creators Texas' upcoming albunm, ChillyBeats, featuring winter music from the Sonic community's top musicians from around the world (Link will be available when the album is out).
Many Sonic remixes were also chosen for this album, and I wanted to do something different and unique. This is also one of those levels I've always wanted to remix, but never had any good ideas or inspiration to adapt it to my own style until recent years. I've been learning a lot more about different genres and exploring new options, and this is a great example of one of those challenges. Not perfectly lo-fi/chillstep just yet, but definitely a step in the right direction
The mentality of this piece was that I was writing a Sonic Christmas song, that in the Sonic world, Mobians would be singing this song for generations to come. I wanted to make the lyrics warm and the instruments cold. Bells and percussion instruments helped emulate this experience. The artwork, done by the very talented Disco. They did a wonderful job dressing up Sonic Advance sprites in the winter clothing as seen in the Sonic Movie 2 trailer that came out recently, also using the real background from Ice Mountain and decorating the trees festively, adding a frame as if the POV is inside looking out at Sonic and Tails. The snow effect was added by my great friend and roommate, Haaf, and if you look closely, you'll notice the size of the snowflakes are effected by the soundwaves themselves.
This was all a really fun experience, and I'm glad you came by to listen to our work! This piece was also in thanks to this entire community, my fans, my friends, my family, for a wonderful 2021 and to say that I'm looking forward to the future! Thank you for listening, and have a safe and memorable holiday season!
LYRICS: It's getting cold out there, and we've got room to spare, why don't you swing on by We've got food to eat, and that cozy heat to keep you warm and dry
No matter where you are, try not to steer too far We're here to see you through, like we're supposed to do And always keep in mind, we're never hard to find, and this is true Our home's always open to you

It's time for some 80's aerobics action with some positive, adrenaline-pumping reinforcement! It's time to Get 2 It!
For those of you who have been wondering what MartaCon is, it's somewhat of an inside joke turned into a meme turned into a game and a streaming event honoring one of the coolest and charitable SEGA streamers, ThisIsMartaaa, whose been nominated for many awards and is known for their work with such charities as Special Effect and Direct Relief. The video game, "MartaCon: Adventure" releases December 1st, 2021, you can now play it at hard-pretzel.itch.io/martacon
When the game's main developer, Hard Pretzel, approached me about the project, I was more than honored to partake. At the time I had no idea this was going to be used as the title theme. My thought process was to make a piece based off of what Marta's streams were about. I figured she's into fitness, and 80's rock, and thus the idea of going 80's aerobics was born.
Most of the inspiration for this piece came from a famous piece by Ty Parr used in a lot of aerobics videos in the 80's, but also from some WWE music. I figured that clapping throughout the whole piece would amplify that effect of the crowd cheering on the athletes. Something happy and upbeat was required more than any other mood, something that made you want to hit the gym and get swole. I also wanted to use clear-sounding synths and keyboard-style transitions, as most synthesizers were in those times. I tried to be unique with every verse while still keeping the attitude pumping to the max.
I hope you all enjoy this track and that it brightens up your day! Now, get out there and GET 2 IT!

After a conversation with a long-time friend about my past and different styles I had used with my music, specifically my old Sky Chase remix from 2009 (newgrounds.com/audio/listen/252468), I decided to revisit this piece and see if I could make it even calmer than before.
I made this the way I had since imagined. Singing the vocals the way I did represents a beacon of hope as the heroes fly through the sky, and was sung with a heavy heart of love and gratitude. It’s the same sort of attitude that I sense in the original piece itself. I’ve also wanted to do an acapella bit for a while, I’ve had many options to go with this remix and I’m really glad I chose the way I did.
I used a lot of raw emotion creating this track, there were times I would have to take a break from my recording session in order to recompose and finish off strong. I guess, conversations about my deeper past have made me appreciate even more, all the support and love I've seen over time. I wanted to reflect it right back into this song. All the more reason to have beautiful artwork to go along with it, big thanks to Mightysen for providing that atmosphere!
Thank you all so much for listening, and continuing to support my music as well! Please follow me and all of these talented people on all platforms!

It started as a Twitter poll for my followers to vote on which remix they'd like to see me do live. It's been a long time since I've done a remix from perhaps my favorite all-time Sonic game, Sonic Advance 3. It brings back wonderful memories of my high school days, challenging fellow classmates who also had this game with my GBA link cable.
The atmosphere of the music and the lyrics, as well as the video itself, is supposed to represent a competitive feel, a battle theme of multiple unknown outcomes. In a way, I also wanted to emulate some of the sounds and styles of my past to keep it unique, such as synths and drum sets. Some new instruments were created as well, to better match the target atmosphere.
Another fun fact was that when my videographer Haaf was going through searching for usable gifs, for some reason we were unable to find one of Cream running, or even flying. We found one of her spin-bounce and grinding. He came up with the idea of using that to bring in more of that competitive atmosphere. It goes to show you that even when things don't go completely as planned, you can still complete the job and make it even better than the original idea.
We hope you all enjoy this, and many thanks for all the support! Feel free to follow us all over!

What started off as a tribute on the 20th anniversary of the SEGA Dreamcast, became a celebration piece for Sonic The Hedgehog's 30th anniversary! Nearly TWO years of planning, backfire, recovery, trials, errors, and external editing! It took three computers of my own, four different plans, six different people, and about a grand and a half out of pocket. It was almost as if this was never meant to be. But everyone involved did a really amazing job with this, and have been nothing short of supportive, trying their absolute best to make sure everything is absolutely perfect! This all still makes me VERY proud to be involved in a community with such huge passion! A dream like this is ALWAYS worth chasing, no matter the setbacks, expenses, and life obstacles. For everyone who's followed along with me throughout this whole journey . . . THANK YOU!!! It touches so deep, and it's that fire that keeps one going. I hope you enjoy our rendition of Open Your Heart!
I've also learned quite a bit from this project as far as music production, collaborations, and editing technique. It's always been a learning process, and I've pretty much had to teach myself everything I've known since the beginning. Over time, more knowledge is gained, and you always know from experience how to improve for the future. I'm also thankful that the people involved were willing to talk through and figure out what went wrong and assist with fixing those problems. Teamwork truly makes the dream work.
Thank you all for stopping by and listening! Happy 30th anniversary Sonic! Enjoy your future, it's gonna be great!
LYRICS: Thunder, rain, and lightning Danger, water rising Clamor, sirens wailing It's such a bad sign
Shadows of dark creatures Steel clouds floating in the air People run for shelter What's gonna happen to us
All the steps we take; all the moves we make; all the pain at stake I see the chaos for everyone; who are we; what can we do You and I are same in the way that we have our own styles that we won't change Yours is filled with evil and mine's not there is no way I can lose
Can't hold on much longer; but I will never let go I know it's a one way track; tell me now how long this will last I'm not gonna think this way; nor will I count on others Close my eyes and feel it burn; now I see what I've gotta do Open your heart, it's gonna be all right
Ancient city blazing Shadows keep attacking Little children crying Everywhere you turn there’s danger
I don't know what it can be but you drive me crazy All your cunning tricks make me sick; even all the games you play You’ve given everything up just to prove that you think that you’re something you’re clearly not But I’m not really afraid, cause I know that you won't have it your own way
Can't hold on much longer; but I will never let go I know it's a one way track; tell me now how long this will last I'm not gonna think this way; nor will I count on others Close my eyes and feel it burn; now I see what I've gotta do
Open your heart and you will see
LETS GO!
If it won't stop, there will be no future for us Its heart is tied down by all the hate; gotta set it free If we can’t contain this, this entire world’s gonna suffer We can’t let that happen, we’ll push through it, just follow me!
I know it's a one way track; tell me now how long this will last Close my eyes and feel it burn; now I see what I've gotta do Gotta open your heart dude, yeah yeah!
Can't hold on much longer; but I will never let go I know it's a one way track; tell me now how long this will last I'm not gonna think this way; nor will I count on others Close my eyes and feel it burn; now I see what I've gotta do

My special submission attempt for a community collab effort hosted by Chaos Creators, a yearly festival for Sonic community content creators! I've done this remix way back in 2006, and for a long time I've wanted to revisit this track and make a better remake. And, as usual, I tried to emulate a positive message in my lyrics. It's about how no matter how bad things can be, and whatever obstacles you may face, it's never healthy to bottle up bad emotions. This is why friendship exists, to see you through these hard times.
I've done a lot of sound adjusting with these, tried my best to balance out all volumes and make sure nothing is too overpowering. I used a lot of double-stacking synths to emphasize the melodies. That was probably the most difficult part of this assembly, but it came through with no distortion and I'm super proud of what I've learned about mixing to this point. I've also been learning more when it comes to editing vocals, becoming more accurate with each move I make (It helps to log every step you take in a notepad or document). I do still feel like there's something I have yet to learn, some sort of balance, but that's all part of the journey. For what it is, I do feel like I'm improving little by little each time
I do hope you guys like this! Never forget that there's always someone out there who cares! Thank you all for the listen!

This remix was a request made for another fan project, with the only stipulation being that it had to sound western. So, I decided to make it a fusion with Drum ‘n Bass! I always love the challenge of creating themes with music, it works the brain a little, makes you think of which instruments to use to emulate an environment, and which instruments go together. In this case, I would use trumpets, harmonicas, acoustic guitars, and pianos, some of which enhanced with other synths for a more prominent sound. Also played around with bending and vibrato for a more unique sound.
Tee Lopes did such a great job with the original. Very jazzy, very fancy. Just my style. I had a jazz background growing up, playing piano all through high school. It was really cool to be able to utilize all that knowledge I’ve accumulated throughout my life into this one particular remix. Sometimes it took a lot of thought in order to be unique and yet stay based to the original at the same time. It’s a beautiful thing to be able to improvise in situations like that because sometimes the end result ends up being better than once imagined. Lot of unusual chords that I don’t often get a chance to use. It’s always easier if you plan it ahead of time. It was actually real easy to get together once things started flowing.
I hope you guys enjoy this track as much as I enjoyed making it, I had a blast with this! All honest comments are greatly appreciated! Thank you all for peeping this remix!

There’s a little bit of context to this one. This remix is actually TWO parts, and this particular submission is NOT the full remix. Sonic Legacy is currently trying to put together an animated series based off of the comic. This remix will be heard in the very first scene, of the very first episode, where we get an introduction to Sonic the Hedgehog, Tempest the Dolphin, and their first encounter together. This really is quite an honor to be kicking off the series! You can follow Sonic Legacy on Tapas (tapas.io/series/Sonic-Legacy) to read Issue 1 of the comic (tapas.io/episode/1191915), and check out their YouTube (youtube.com/channel/UC4NJ6kc_DLlLpXyiqVqZ1Jg) and Twitter (twitter.com/sonic_legacy) for updates on this particular animation!
The first part of this remix was done using a technique musicians know as “Mickey-Mousing”, and it’s a technique that’s entirely new to me, but not unfamiliar. This is where one is provided either an animation or a voice-dub (in this case it was voices), and so we have to shape our music to fit emotions and action throughout the scene. Hyper Potions did this with Sonic Mania Adventures, and Tee Lopes did this with Team Sonic Racing Overdrive. You can hear this in many of your favorite cartoons and shows (a particular favorite of mine is Sean Callery who composed for TV shows like Bones and 24). I was also given a stipulation that the scene took place at a beach, so using instruments to represent such was crucial. I’ve added steel drums, Hawaiian guitar, brass instruments, and a fretless bass to help illustrate this. Due to spoiler alerts, and for contextual purposes, this part of the remix IS NOT in this submission. I will release the full version some time in the future, when episode 1 of Sonic Legacy has been released (I will title it as Legacy VIP). We’re all working very hard to take this into fruition, so please stay tuned! It won’t be too long
This submission you are listening to now is the second part of the remix. After the Mickey-Mousing part was over and my submission was ready for Sonic Legacy, the result was not even two and a half minutes. I figured I still had plenty of time on it, and I had actually planned for this from the beginning, so I decided to add a full-on remix to follow it. The total result will be just under five and a half minutes. In this part I added a few things, my signature synth Sky Synth to accompany the Hawaiian guitar, modified marimbas to accompany the steel drums, and plenty more. The intensity in this part is practically double of the first part. Plus, of course, I like to jam out a little bit with a few solos and modifications of my own. Sonic Legacy will not be using the parts you are hearing, except for the intro. I decided to edit that in. Everything was particularly simple once it all got rolling.
This whole project was definitely one of the most fun times I’ve ever had with a Sonic remix! I hope you all have just as much fun listening to it. And please, stay tuned! This isn’t over, not by a long shot! Make sure you subscribe/follow Sonic Legacy for updates as well as new issues! If you liked this, you’re really gonna love the full version! Feel free to leave an honest review! Thank you all for listening and for the continued support! This commissioned track was created for an upcoming web-series known as Journey Across Worlds. It’s a comic and animated series based off of so many video game references from Mario, Sonic, and Crash Bandicoot to Nights, Star Fox, Undertale, and I’m not gonna give too much away cause there would be too many spoilers if I continued this list. It’s an ultimate mashup as various video game stars interact and save the universe from the just as various evil entities that lurk throughout. I will say that from what I’ve seen so far, this is sure to be an entertaining project altogether.
This is the main theme of the series. The only stipulations were that it had to be upbeat and had to have very certain references to the games being featured. Drum ‘n Bass is usually my go-to, but I wanted to make this just a tad bit different. What I really wanted was for this to sound like an opening to an anime because most anime music I’ve heard is just as epic as a main theme should be. My jazz past has definitely come in handy here, using a variety of pianos and chorded synths as well as bells to balance out the mix
The hardest and most time-consuming part of this whole thing was the editing of the vocals. It’s still a learning experience, but quite the learning experience it is. I’m getting much better at identifying wave forms and separating them but I don’t think it’s perfect as of yet. There are still many choppy areas that I at least attempted to fix by inverting a lot of the clips and removing extra noise. But it’s also the fact that this track has the most lyrics I’ve ever put into a song. One clip would often take about three and a half hours at one time. It was very tedious work, but it’s the experience gained that really makes it all worthwhile.
I don’t have too high expectations for this track but I will say it was a fun and interesting experience. Good practice. Plus, at least it sounded very close to what I had in mind. As always, thank you all for the listen, and I’m open to suggestions and reviews!
LYRICS: Stompin’ on Koopas Runnin’ at the speed of sound Pellets and wumpa fruits Make it to the next round
Finding the tri-force Chasing an endless dream We’ll stick together Since we’re on the same team
This is the life that we chose, this is the path that we take We gotta play this just right, we cannot make a mistake We’ve gotta follow it through because There’s no turning back around
We gotta stand for what’s true, stand up for what we believe So many tales left untold, so many goals to achieve We are the ones who dare to dream Cause we’re always future bound
CHORUS Come and take a journey cross these worlds No one ever knows what they will find You’ll discover fantasy can always be reality All you need to do is clear your mind
Fighting for a purpose Reaching up to the stars Brother vs brother It’s sure to leave some scars
We have the power To beat this evil within Take it to the Underworld And fight until the end
We came from all walks of life, assigned a mutual task We don’t know what’s in our way, we do not know if we’ll last But we must always push forward because It’s what’s best for all of us
We know the future’s at stake, that’s why we’re trying out best This evil never backs down, that’s why there’s no time to rest And we’ll keep fighting forever until All our memories turn to dust

Just in time for the Halloween season, it's my little tribute to one of my favorite, and one of the most underrated SEGA games ever, Radical Rex! Tread lightly, this track is haunted! Ooooooo!!!
I did something different with this one. I actually started creating from the middle, as it was the first part that came to my mind before I decided to create it. I wanted to create somewhat of the perfect sound beforehand so that I could build off of it a lot smoother. Everything else was added along the way, I very much just went with wherever the flow took me on this song.
It gave me a great chance to dig deeper into some more settings of the Envelope Generator. I wanted to create a feedback sounding instrument to make it kinda modern. It's something I've been meaning to do for a while and this song gave me that perfect opportunity. I did use a lot of bass instruments with this one because I felt like it gave it more of an intense feel, like it's really time to do or die. The church organ and the whistly vibrato synth in the beginning were pretty easy to do, but even more fun to modify. I've been finding what works and what doesn't as far as pan-shifting and volume control. I can't have it too bassy.
The poem in the beginning was pretty much freestyled. I wanted to add the words "radical" and "legendary" because those were some of Radical Rex's catchphrases. But it was a little hard to rhyme radical when I was first thinking of what to use. I ended up using some website to find some and I ended up using "fractional". I tried to make it a little scary sounding by lowering the pitch and adding just a little reverb (I really tried to control it this time). For the chorus, I wanted to double up on the vocal tracks to give it more of a rock-n-roll sound. I've never really gone this metal with my voice before. It was fun, and it came out exactly as I wanted it. I didn't even really edit the vocals at all with the pitch change, as I wanted it to sound natural. All it took was volume control and effects. I'm actually happy with the vocals, and I hope you are too.
Really fun project to do. And I finished it just in time for the Halloween season, which was the goal. That being said, thank you all for listening, all honesty is completely appreciated, and please, have a fun and safe Halloween!
LYRICS: Darkness falls in the midnight hour The dead thrive once more in the moonlight's power. This evil presence on a field so clear A cursed aura of suffering and pain draws so near In a place where survival is fractional To tread amongst this land one would have to be so radical And only when you conquer a land so scary Can you be known in history as . . . LEGENDARY!

It’s my official audition to join Sonic Legacy as a contributor. Sonic Legacy, a webcomic project from Sonic Paradox, is a group of comic writers, artists, musicians, and voice actors dedicated to the Sonic fandom, It’s a beat I’ve had in my head for a long time, years. I could never start it because I had a requirement for a female vocalist, as it wouldn’t have sounded as good with my own voice. It took a while to find one. I was asking around one day, when my newfound friends over at Sonic Legacy pointed me towards one of their members, Fallen4Freedom, who agreed to help me out with this project. Hence, the project can commence!
I replaced the original sitar melody with her voice, and moved the sitars to the middle bridge and the solo for variety. I had listened to a few examples of Persian electronica to study, and I incorporated a lot of percussive drums and ethnic instruments, mixed with fast paced synths, and I felt like speeding up the tempo was necessary for more of the feel that you’re racing. I tried to focus on layering, and adjusting the left-and-right panning accordingly. It’s still something I need to master, so I’ll gladly take any opportunity to practice it. I also took some time to balance out bass and treble and everything in between.
As far as editing the voice clips go, I learned a lot from the single project, and Fallen4Freedom did an absolutely wonderful job with execution, and a lot of it was super easy to edit. It’s not perfect, but it’s definitely an improvement from past projects, and I learned so much. I got a deeper look into a few functions that I hardly used, mainly in attempts to blend clips together when necessary. I’m paying closer attention to the little details, such as timing and volume control. Using two different programs to adjust volumes actually really comes in handy. There are some things I can’t touch with my producing program, Cakewalk Kinetic, that I can in my editing program, Audacity. I’m finding out what those things are, slowly but surely.
Overall this was a really fun project to do. I want to send an extra thanks to Fallen4Freedom for doing such a wonderful job, and to Sonic Legacy for providing an opportunity. I hope you all like this as much as I liked learning from it. Thanks everybody!

This is another track for an indepentent project. This one is a lot slower, and a lot more dramatic. It's supposed to be for cutscenes, or for very dramatic moments.
I set it up so that every round gets more and more intense, as if you're heading closer towards some sort of goal. I used a lot of orchestral instruments, as well as a few of my own created synths. I wanted something that sounded sorta futuristic in the background. I think I nailed it, that instrument from the beginning was EXACTLY what I was looking for.
I really wanted to avoid using snares as much as possible. So instead, I used all sorts of percussive instruments. I also played around with the pan shifting on them to even out some of the cluster. I used a LOT of percussion. It is different for me, but I like it. The hardest part of the whole song was adding effects and adjusting volumes. I spent some extra time during the editing process to make sure everything was nice and smooth, not to loud, not too soft, every part right where it needs to be. I did a lot of experimenting with MIDI effects to make sure I could find the best sound possible. I learned the real importance of "phasing" and how to use it in the right spot.Reach Up To The Clouds - Pauly BPaulyBFromDa3032018-08-04 | Track: 092 OPD: July 17, 2018 Length: 4:31 // Style: Drum 'n Bass Speed: 186 BPM // Measures: 210 // Loops: 26 Clips: 10 // Time Taken: 20 days newgrounds.com/audio/listen/815606

This is another piece made for an independent project. This was intended to be used for in-field adventuring between objectives. Something light and playful, something that makes you want to go exploring. I learned a lot from this one. I wanted to keep simple instruments with synth accompaniment this time as opposed to enhancements. A lot was separated between instruments like pianos, organs, and picked basses, to created synths and sound effects. I paid more attention to the stereo effects, panning from right to left and back and forth, as well as evening out volumes accordingly.
I know my lyricals haven't always gone over well in the past, but this time I made sure everything was organized and even, and I spent a lot of extra time polishing out as many bugs as I could with it. I learned how to master some of the settings with the editing program. I also learned how to smooth things out a little better as far as pitch changes, but it's not perfect. Luckily, I made it so that the lyrics can be cut out at any time for use in the video game. Always gotta have a plan B.
I took a little longer this time to ensure that everything was as smooth as I could have possibly made it. I really hope you guys enjoy this one, I put my entire heart into it. Thank you all so much for the listen . . . and keep reaching for the clouds!

This one was created for an independent project. This is intended to be a battle/boss battle theme. I've had a history of remixing Boss music that ended up doing really well amongst the community. This time it's a Drum 'n Bass piece with a touch of orchestral instruments enhanced by synths. I tried to make it as intense as I could, I do think dying down the drums to bring them up really help illustrate a sense of being able to think your actions during gameplay, while still fighting a tense battle. Most of the focus with this one was chord play. Making things work that you wouldn't normally hear. My childhood jazz background really helped with that bit.
I know 8 days doesn't sound like a lot, but I'll be honest I've never felt more focused and motivated in my life. There would often be times I'd stay up over 24 hours at a time to work on it. I've done nothing this past week and a half except work on this. It's a project I'm super excited for, and I cannot wait to see the final product, assuming everything follows through smooth as silk.
In its short time in the public, this song has made quite the splash. It's my only original to make the Newgrounds Weekly Top Audio list, ranking at 5th to start and 7th by the the end of the week. This one was created for a popular podcast revolving around the Denver professional wrestling scene known as The Average Guys. As I was writing the beat, I discovered a few synth settings, that I could use different attack times within the same loop. It came in handy. The recording and editing was the hardest part. It's not perfect, and the microphone used was a little buggy during use.Very floaty. Once this project got going it was easier to piece everything together. The podcasters were very pleased with the song overall. It's not my best, but it worked out.
LYRICS:
You call the shots//You always give it what you got We are simply there to take it into view Cause life is filled//With opportunities and thrills We'll be here until there's nothing left to do
So turn the lights out and let's go outside now There's a whole world to explore All I need from you is just to take me to A place I've never been before
Cause we're just average guys When you see our eyes But it's more than that. So much more than that And you would be surprised Once you realize That it's more than that. I received so much support and contributions from all my Sonic Stadium friends with this one. I had to make it count. The original composition was done so well that I thought it would be a perfect challenge for me. More lyrics to this one, and even added in my own. This would give me a great chance to work on vocals and show off my voice. It would also be a real test of my editing. This is where I would get a general idea of what works and what doesn’t. I do know that at one point I added too much reverb to one of the verses. Every track is a learning experience. I really wanted more of a rocking piano to accompany the melody. I created a lot of new instruments for this one. I used effects like pan shifting, flangering, cutoff, and more LFO playing. I finally learned how to get that futuristic sounding effect that you hear in the drop bass, and also learned that I can adjust the envelope generator within the pattern itself. I learned about a lot of things that I will definitely be using in the future. And the people responded wonderfully. 2nd place for the week, 9th place for the month. I was really hoping to make an impact with this one. In its short time it’s already getting around. I’m happy about that because it tells me that there’s a future in this no matter what.
LYRICS: Take on the enemy strike them down//We can’t let evil win, take them out//This is justice this is what’s right Take on the enemy mess them up//And bring them to their knees do your stuff//Time for justice time to go fight
We’ve been down for far too long//Now it’s time for us to come back strong but it’s never enough//You need to keep going when the going gets tough//Yeah
Now we’ve got to try and reach the top//Must keep moving no we’re never gonna stop but it’s never enough//You need to keep going when the going gets tough//Yeah

This one was a little treat for all my fellow 90’s kids. It’s a drum ‘n bass version of Chemical Plant, within it incorporated clips of Bill Nye the Science Guy. I went for more of a rock-n-roll sounding lead synth. I wanted this one to have its own solo as opposed to vocals, since I was already using voice clips. It really helped to have somewhat of a jazz background as a little kid. Once the ideas started flowing, as did the entire song. Unusual chords, sequences, and replicating the original to the exact, even if very subtle, this one was definitely very fun to do once I got into it. To be honest, if the intro doesn’t give it away, this song was supposed to be something completely different. An original. I went with a Sonic remix when the idea finally came to me. I had a little trouble with volume adjustments but overall, not bad. This one was made to go along with Frozen In Despair. Once again, I utilized xylophones and echo to signify a watery mood. Also added sound effects of seagulls and was able to edit them to flow in with the music itself. I even wrote and performed my own lyrics. My editing skills were establishing. I really wanted to take an interesting twist with it because of a genre and speed switch. The unique pattern of the drums was supposed to add a little intensity to the overall feel of it. Make things flow a little more, shall we say, swimmingly. I used the trumpet synth from a previous piece because of how well it worked out. I also incorporated a favorite synth. The point of the lyrics was to add more of a positive note to the song. A lot of people liked the ending. I think the Sonic sound effect was perfect for the final climax, especially with the drowning jingle buildup just seconds before. I tried my best to make this song signify the level as much as I could. People did enjoy it, but it never saw much glory.

I really poured my heart into this one. I added in everything I knew, including my own lyrics. All out, kind of like a big test of everything I’d learned and recovered from my time back. It’s at this point that I’m ready to take the next step in achieving my dream. It’s also my third installment of this remix. It’s also at this point that I’d be ready to take the next step, so it was crucial to do my very best. This time I went for a faster, more retro sounding techno. I learned more about a function known as Envelope Generator, which helps you layer different synths together for different sounds, and edit the little pieces like attack time, decay time, hold, release, and reverb for each layer. I made a cool bass synth doing just this, and even created my own phaser. I also incorporated a bunch of sequences from my first two remixes and perfected them. It’s definitely one of the most important pieces in my repertoire. And it was received wonderfully. Ranked 1st for the week and scoring a spot on the Newgrounds Homepage for three weeks, I actually did receive some wanted attention from other entities. This was a huge step forward. It only goes up from here.

It’s a remix that I’d always wanted to do but didn’t quite turn out as planned. The major problem with this one was that my computer kept crashing when I was in the middle of making this. It took three attempts and a lot of time. Total time on this one is close to three months, but in reality, it was only three days because I was rushed to get something up once and for all. At least I knew what I had and could recreate it as best as I could to those points, but it could’ve used more work. But it wasn’t bad either. For what it was, this one had the challenge of creating a 5-count song as opposed to the usual 4 or 3 counts. It was crucial that everything was different in every section. Everything from sequence transitions to drum cycles, and still flowed with the different kind of rhythm. I also wanted more of a cinematic feel to it. I got my inspiration for this one my watching the television series, “24”. Something that seemed action-packed. The partially orchestral selection of instruments really helped with that aspect.Sonic Unleashed - Perfect Dark Gaia (Techrock Remix) - Pauly BPaulyBFromDa3032018-07-28 | Track 084 OPD: July 6, 2017 Length: 6:24 Style: Dance newgrounds.com/audio/listen/753941

This was created for an event held by The Sonic Stadium celebrating the 26th anniversary of Sonic and all the music throughout the series. This level and genre were chosen by request. I was more than glad to honor that request. It was definitely an interesting turn slowing it down and yet keeping the livelihood of the original. I had learned some more about LFO and was starting to utilize it more and more. It really brings out that sweet sound that flows, like the vibrato heard when one of the synths is played long enough. Also learned that sometimes layering instruments together can make for a stronger, more vibrant sound, as heard in the trumpets. The Sonic Stadium community sure did love how it turned out. This saw a little success on Newgrounds as it was placed 4th for the week and was also featured on the Newgrounds Home page for two weeks. It had been a while since I had touched this genre. I really oughta do more with this style.Sonic R - Livin In Da City (DnB Remix) - Pauly BPaulyBFromDa3032018-07-26 | Track 083 OPD: June 9, 2017 Length: 7:13 Style: Drum ‘n Bass newgrounds.com/audio/listen/749204

This was made for a competition held on Newgrounds. Here I would get some practice in on editing, using original voice clips, to innovate, and to better familiarize myself to waveforms and wavelengths. Identify the break-off between notes, words, syllables, and consonants. I worked more on making everything blend than anything. I tried to be a little more creative with the riff. Discovered more mathematical patterns and more options.Robotniks Mean Bean Machine - Exercise (DnB Cover) - Pauly BPaulyBFromDa3032018-07-26 | Track 082 OPD: February 14, 2017 Length: 7:20 Style: Drum ‘n Bass newgrounds.com/audio/listen/728641

My own little taking of a childhood favorite. I feel like I could’ve done a lot more with this one if I’m being honest. Not my best. I could’ve adjusted volumes a little better. I was also a tad bit repetitive. I wanted to take a little more time and learn more of the functions that I may had forgotten from the past, as well as an opportunity to learn new ones. I practiced pan shifting with a couple of individual instruments, getting deeper, more stagnant sounds from the bass line, more LFO functionality, that kind of things. I did discover a lot that would definitely help me in the future. And for what it is, it’s interesting to say the least. I learned about Envelope Generation, which allows to you take different layers of synth instruments and add different effects to each one, creating a unique sound. The best example of this is the main bass line.Sonic 2 Game Gear - Aqua Lake (DnB Cover) Pauly BPaulyBFromDa3032018-07-24 | Track 081 OPD: January 22, 2017 Length: 6:44 Style: Drum ‘n Bass newgrounds.com/audio/listen/724076

I actually tried to write a story with this one. It starts off with gentle lake noises and xylophones that signify that Sonic is going underwater, to where we see an underwater base of some sort. As the alarm goes off, the tempo increases. This is where Sonic has to find the hidden chaos emerald and get outta dodge. I think the heavy electric synth I added and the sequence I came up for it really add a rushed feeling to it. I will admit my biggest mistake with this one was forgetting to edit out the sound effects used. People noticed. But they did like how I transformed something cool into my favorite genre. And other than the sound effects, they actually enjoyed it. I started this project upon my arrival to The Sonic Stadium. I also wanted to make a song to commemorate the Christmas celebration. I wanted to ring in the holiday for my new friends with this piece. That’s why I picked a level that could be associated with the bright feeling of Christmas. You can hear it in the sleigh bells that are played throughout. I added an interesting twist to mix up some of the patterns that I had to follow, specifically in the drums and synths. I figured warm sounding chords would be perfect for a wintery song like this. I also discovered some new functions using LFO, Low-Frequency Oscillation. It really gave the pianos more of a harp feel. It worked out great. The community loved this one, and I was featured at 8th place for Christmas week on Newgrounds. It remains one of my best works to this day.Sonic CD - Stardust Showdown (Stardust Speedway US Bad Future DnB Remix) - Pauly BPaulyBFromDa3032018-07-23 | Track 079 OPD: October 1, 2016 Length: 5:17 Style: Drum ‘n Bass newgrounds.com/audio/listen/706336

This here is my rendering of the US version of Bad Future Stardust Speedway. Of course, the feel I was going for this would be an epic showdown between Sonic and Metal Sonic. I wanted to capture that intense battle feeling. However, I was still trying to remember everything I had lost long ago. It’s not perfect, and after hearing it now there’s a lot more I could’ve done with it. A lot of adjustments to have made. I guess maybe I felt rushed to get something out there, as it had been a long time and I was still trying to get back into the groove. It was repetitive and bland. I learned a couple other functions that I had missed in that time though too, so it was another step to recovery. I would also be mildly re-introduced to editing, I added a little whisper voice to practice. It was still perceived very well as it had ranked 6th place for that week and was featured on the front page. Things were different on Newgrounds from before, but it was an honor.Beyond The Horizon - Pauly BPaulyBFromDa3032018-07-21 | Track 078 OPD: July 27, 2016 Length: 6:19 Style: Drum ‘n Bass newgrounds.com/audio/listen/695989
I was so happy to be back to writing music after my hiatus that I wanted to share this one once and for all. In the past, I’ve uploaded songs from a demo CD I made in early 2006 before I went public on Newgrounds. This one was the very first. My brother actually got the program, Cakewalk Kinetic, for the computer for his birthday, just a week before Christmas in 2005. He attempted to make rap beats and sell them to independent artists. However, after not spending enough time with pieces to make anything good enough, he was ridiculed at a get together with local rap artists and gave it up. He then gave the program to me for Christmas. I would start practicing right away, and I came up with this one. My very first attempt at a song. It’s pretty obvious with uneven volumes and velocities. This is where I would explore a lot of the options laid out before me. It would be my introduction to many functions that I would certainly improve later on. I would go to develop a style that I would most certainly use in the future. I figured that my return from spending far too long away would be the perfect opportunity to share it. A lot of inspiration for this actually came from playing Grand Theft Auto 3.Sonic Colors - Planet Wisp (With a W) - DnB Remix - Pauly BPaulyBFromDa3032018-07-20 | Track 077 OPD: June 5, 2016 Length: 5:57 Style: Drum ‘n Bass newgrounds.com/audio/listen/687684

After six years I make a long awaited and very triumphant return, immediately being featured in the weekly top tracks at 4th place! Six long years I’ve waited for this day. It took working a terrible job, a lot of pain, a near-death experience, and a crushed soul, but I was finally back on my feet and ready to come back 110%! Of course, I had to make it count. I needed my return to music to make an impact in a sort. And it certainly did. It had been a while since I had done this, so relearning everything with Cakewalk Kinetic version 1 took a little time, but rust is easily lost. This is where I began my journey to start creating more futuristic sounding instruments, as heard in the bass. And as always, a song like this would require inspiration, which would come from years of listening to Pandora Radio. This one was taken more seriously than anything else I’d done to that point. The clips of Sonic and Tails came from the game itself, but I couldn’t get rid of the background music. It’s ok though, the fans all loved it anyway, and I was welcomed back into the world of music with open arms. This one had a pretty sick beat. I actually started making this after hearing a fellow Newgrounds artist’s rendering of this track from the DOOM series. The guy was pretty confused on where he had heard it and wanted to do the full remix, but got lost. I wanted to show him the way. It turned out ok, I was going for a little bit more of a dramatic race against time feel. That’s where the xylophones come in. That’s also why it’s a lot faster and a little bit quieter than the original. As far as reception, it got a little bit of attention but never accomplished much as far as everything else on the internet. Still, stepping stones. Unfortunately, it was after this one that a psychotic former roommate would destroy most of my possessions, including my computer and all my equipment. It would be six whole years before I would come back to music writing due to financial struggle, and most people would forget about me in that time. The Valley Of Kings - Pauly BPaulyBFromDa3032018-07-18 | Track 075 OPD: June 12, 2010 Length: 6:04 Style: Techno newgrounds.com/audio/listen/340000
Definitely need more originals in my arsenal. This one was made after I was inspired in the ring. I wanted to make something that channels out what I feel in the ring into a musical track, the mood being that I’m ready to go to war. Much like the Vikings. I pictured domination, just taking over. It’s the feel that I was trying to go for. It required heavier drums and a booming bass. The melody just kinda came together when listening to the chords in a loop. It took some clever maneuvering as far as transitions went. I really tried to smooth things over as much as I could to make it all flow perfectly. I also tried to add more of the feel I got from a Sonic Spinball remix I made previously with the drums. It wasn’t popular, no originals really are on Newgrounds. But it’s definitely one of my best as far as originals go.Sonic 2 - Indias Oil (Oil Ocean Ethnic Remix) - Pauly BPaulyBFromDa3032018-07-17 | Track 074 OPD: May 1, 2010 Length: 5:04 Style: World newgrounds.com/audio/listen/329591

Let’s face it. The original sounds very cultural and unique. And I’m the kind of guy who loves giving things gimmicks. I came up with a backstory to this one too, though it seems outdated now. The joke was that President RoBushnik was mining all the oil in India and Sonic was sent out to stop him to save all of India. This one was an interesting one to make. I had to do some research on Indian music. I knew a little bit, having worked at an Indian restaurant. It was fun. Used triplets again, where the original doesn’t. I found it was an interesting twist, they’re a tad more challenging to work with. Overall this one was fairly popular. A lot of the fans got a kick out of the variety of instruments combined and the general feel of the beat. Ever since I joined Newgrounds Audio, I had always wanted to do this. A lot of the most prestigious musicians on Newgrounds usually did a remix of this one. All of the greatest Newgrounds had to offer did a remix of this. This is why I really wanted to try my hand at it, not for competition, but to see how I stacked up compared to them. This one never got any awards, but it was used in many online games and videos, including the debut episode of the JonTron Show on YouTube! The faster tempo and deep basses really added intensity to the piece. I brought back some familiar feel-good synths. People loved it. It’s not the best version they’ve heard on Newgrounds, but I got really positive feedback in general for it.Quicksand Descent - Pauly BPaulyBFromDa3032018-07-16 | Track 072 OPD: March 2, 2010 Length: 4:25 Style: Drum ‘n Bass newgrounds.com/audio/listen/315380
This one was actually another one created during my practice days in early 2006 before I was posting publicly, and eventually there will be more and more of these going online. The reason for finally publishing it was because I felt like I was going to be taking a lot more time between posting to write new stuff. This one was actually my rendition of what I think a desert level would be like. I went for that slight Arabica feel in the way the sequences are put out. I also mixed the drums a little bit up from the norm, giving it more of a rushing tone, the intent of making it unique. It’s probably the best I’ve done personally, as far as my originals go, even though this is clearly still earlier work as you’ll notice some of the volumes are uneven. I was just starting out my fifth year on Newgrounds when I made this one. After that time, I wanted to do another remix of Sonic 3’s Ice Cap, because it was the first thing I ever posted on Newgrounds in 2006. This was definitely more of a milestone piece. This time I created a bell melody that I thought was perfect for the feel of the song. The main one that can be heard from beginning to end. I basically just recreated what I did the first time and improvised a few changes from there.. This one, however, would be just a tad bit more successful than that first version. By this time, I was already a better-known name. I’ve learned so much since that first post. And the people enjoyed it. It’s time for an original piece. And I decided to write this one while watching a Pirates Of The Caribbean marathon, hence the name was all I could think of for it. I wanted to use all of my most utilized instruments for this one, as it’s a complete original straight off the top of my head, and it had been almost a year since I had done an original like this. I wanted to make it count. It started off with a simple loop, that would eventually and gradually change as the song went on. Simple stuff, really, but still tried to be as complex as I could with simple riffs. It really is amazing what one can come up with, with a free mind.Sonic Spinball - Toxic Rave (Toxic Caves Techno Remix) - Pauly BPaulyBFromDa3032018-07-12 | Track 069 OPD: November 15, 2009 Length: 4:10 Style: Techno newgrounds.com/audio/listen/288323

Not just my top ten, this IS my #1! This one is hands down my most popular, most well-known, and most associated with me. Reaching over 35,000 listens and over 3,000 downloads, this track placed #2 for the week it was posted, #6 of the month, and has been heard all across the entire internet and across the world! It remains to this day, the best track in my collection of all time. I really felt like a faster tempo and double basses would really add to the tense feel that you could fall into acid at any time. Making the synths stand out was actually pretty easy once I got the groove going. A lot of the instruments used in this piece were homemade. I needed a synth for every tone. A couple background melodies, harmonies, and even a lower melody synth bass. Everything just kinda flowed after all pieces were in place. Learned to smooth a couple settings out, such as volume fade, and timing. I definitely went for more of a glowing, club mix feel with a slight taste of jazz. That’s exactly what I took from the original anyway with all their synths and melodies. And in the end, it turned out very successful. It was hard work, but it definitely paid off. I’m more than proud of this one.Bejeweled Twist - Level 4 - Pauly BPaulyBFromDa3032018-07-11 | Track 068 OPD: August 5, 2009 Length: 7:10 Style: Dance newgrounds.com/audio/listen/261647

Another Bejeweled remix. I actually tried to be a little more accurate as far as the way the instruments sounded. The drums and the bridge were really the only innovated things in this piece. I tried to go for a more exotic sound with mild congas, maracas and soft strings. The chord combination was really fun to work with on this one. It was an unusual setup, especially during the climax. The bridge was just made like usual, whatever came to me. But in order to match up the interesting jazzy feel, I had to come up with my own combinations. 4ths, 7ths, 9ths, any kind of unusual chord that you can identify in these. This was more for fun than anything else. I’m actually surprised I was able to get 7 minutes out of it. Most people that heard it loved it, but this was never close to popular for me.Sonic 3D Blast - Rusty Ruins - Pauly BPaulyBFromDa3032018-07-11 | Track 067 OPD: July 31, 2009 Length: 5:19 Style: Dance newgrounds.com/audio/listen/260433

It had been a while since I’ve touched a song with triplets. I think it really adds to a more “mystic” feel of a song, if done right. This was a pretty feel-good song and a feel-good level. What I was going for was something a little floaty, mixed in with some of the chill-sounding ideas I got from writing some of my previous Bejeweled Twist remixes. If you really listen in, you can pretty much tell that a lot of these remixes that are around the same timeframe sorta connect to each other. Overall this song did very well in the ratings. This song never won any awards, but it was very well received by the community. I can say that this one definitely helped develop a certain style that I would use for a while.
