Dave Poo 2In this video I'm going finish off the recapping of the Comnmdore Amiga A1200 that I started in the previous videos. I'm going to find out what all the remaining caps do (or should be doing if they work properly) and replace the relevant ones. I've skipped replacing the caps to do with the RF modulator as the modulator has very little use in this day and age, and the picture quality is terrible anyway.

The reason I'm doing the video as it wasn't totally straight forward to get it going. This was a game that I played on the C64 back in the day and I still own my original copy of. This game was designed and tested before the introduction of the Amiga 1200 and the AGA chipset (and even just before workbench 2.0) so I don't have a total success in getting it to work. This is a non WHDLoad video, so I'm just to try and play it "as it was" back in the day. To do this properly it seems like it needs either an A500 or possibly will work correctly on an A500+ or A600 (haven't tested those yet).

Luke from RetroSix has a video about preping the Game Gear for this mod, you can watch that here youtube.com/watch?v=HCtzeOKHTH4 - It's not quite the way I did it, but I did take some advice from that. Not everything about this mod went to plan, and I had to hand wire the mod (as opposed to using a wire free ribbing kit), so this video is not designed as a tutorial, this is just me going through everything I did to get this working. But if you are hand wiring this mod then it might be some help to you. It's a long video, so chapter links are provided if you want to skip to the bits you are interested in. You can skip past the uboxing and repairs if you are just interested in the screen mod.
