Animator Video Reference PluginScott Petrovic2018-10-31 | A new plugin I have been working on for Krita. This one allows you to pick a video on your computer. You can step through frames or import a set of frames into a layer inside of Krita.
This uses new Python API calls, so it will only work in Krita 4.2 and up.Dillon Goos Blender animation course resultsScott Petrovic2021-01-03 | I had a bit of free time over the winter break and picked up the new Blender animation course from Dillon Goo through Bloop animation. This is the resulting animation I made and rendered.
All the models and rigs are provided with the course, so all you have to focus on is how to do the animation. Which is perfect for what I was trying to learn.
I recommend it for someone wanting to do more with animation than just walk cycles and ball bouncing tutorials out there (that is in this course too though). It really explains how to put everything together if you are a one-person team.
The basic course is $67 and a series of videos you can watch at any time. The upgraded packages for more money offer additional courses...which I haven't done.
Note: My timing of things was different, so I just snatched some music from the YouTube audio library and used my terrible vocals. The music that comes with the course will be different since it has the vocal part embedded in it.Krita Code review: New Gradient Editor user interfaceScott Petrovic2020-11-18 | Going through a merge request seeing how the UI and UX is being done...and providing a bit of feedback.
Merge request: invent.kde.org/graphics/krita/-/merge_requests/591Walk around Kirkwood SuburbsScott Petrovic2020-11-05 | I recently got a video camera and have been testing out how to work it and edit videos. I have some different ideas of things to do with video, but need to figure out all the boring stuff before I can make any type of content that might be useful.
These are some random video shots I took around my neighborhood. There was a small trail by a school that I explored a bit as well.
Editing in 4K was a bit tricky, but using proxy videos in Blender made the process much easier. All the audio is from the YouTube Audio library.Brush Editor Direction Progress and DiscussionScott Petrovic2018-09-27 | These are some changes that I started working on trying to condense and make the brush editor more flexible and useful. It still has some work to go, but hopefully it is heading in the right direction. I have been working on the text editor trying to make it easier to use. This is what I have so far. Let me know if this is going down the right path or if there are other suggestions.
These changes are only in my branch, so they aren't scheduled for any release. These suggestions came from a couple artists and I liked them.A Day at the Park ShortScott Petrovic2018-05-07 | A short animation/animatic I did for class during the Fall 2018 semester at St. Louis Community College.
Most of it was made using Krita 4.1 and Blender. I wrote the music in FL Studio. Testing out some new animation functions that are being added while doing this.colorize mask example in Krita 4.0Scott Petrovic2018-02-25 | Quick example of how to use the colorize mask feature in Krita 4.0Krita 4.0 vs. Krita 3.3 Brush Performance TestScott Petrovic2017-11-10 | Two versions of Krita battle it out to see which version is the fastest. Both using my low end Surface Pro 4. This video will talk about some of the performance improvements that are being added to the upcoming Krita 4.0
This is the first time I have tried to make a "polished" video so let me know if anything can be improved. Or if there are other videos that you might be interested in.Krita Live Brush PreviewScott Petrovic2017-10-03 | This is something I have been working on the past week. When editing brushes, it can be difficult to tell exactly what a button or know will do. This live preview of the result should help. It works with most of the brush engines, but there are a couple of them that create issues (quick brush and shape brush). Those won't get previews for now.
The stroke auto resizes and scales depending on how big your brush is. I probably need to tweak the scaling values a bit with what is in the video, but you should get the idea and it is relatively close.
This is just in my code branch, so no ETA on when it might get in a future version.
Let me know if you have any feedback. It is still a work in progress.Saving and renaming improvements to Brush editor in KritaScott Petrovic2017-06-28 | This is some stuff I have been working on recently to improve how the brushes are managed in Krita. With this patch, it should be more clear how to save brushes. I also added the ability to rename brushes. Renaming still creates backups, so you won't lose anything.Upcoming Options for Mirror Tools in Krita 3.xScott Petrovic2016-06-07 | options for mirror tools. Locking will remove the move grabber.C. You can can pretty much assume that almost every time I use the erase mode, I have to change the brush settings *twice*. Once for increasing the brush to erase, and again to shrink the brush back down to continue sketching.St. Louis Scatter Jam - Blast OFF!Scott Petrovic2014-10-05 | A game created for the 2014 St. Louis ScatterJam.
