Music: He Films The Clouds Part 2 - MaybeshewillOne Mile Rail Balance for Mental Health and Parkour (#railmarathon Fundraiser)Enso Movement Raleigh2020-04-21 | Balancing on a rail is symbolic of the physical struggles that we face in our day-to-day lives. It is a call to action for the parkour community to question the ethos of "être fort pour être utile," meaning "being strong to be useful." How do we bring strength into our practice? And how do we share our strength in contributing to the world?
Partnering with Soul Parkour (ParkourONE) of Germany and Free Your Instinct of the United Kingdom, David Banks planned an attempt to be the first person to complete balancing a marathon (26.2 miles / 42.2 kilometers) across a rail. The fundraiser would help to provide parkour programming for mental health and specialized support. He was unfortunately hurt with an unrelated injury preventing him from tackling the challenge.
Across the world, over two dozen athletes stepped up to donate a mile - balancing across a rail. Each individual planned out their routes just days before to ensure completion of a marathon on April 21st, 2020. In this video, Alan Tran shares his experience balancing a mile across a rail.
"An empty stomach with a little caffeine made the challenge a bit difficult in terms of focus. Also at the end of the rail was a very unstable and insecure section that made pivoting around pretty tough. All-in-all, I lost balance about six times over the course of about a hundred minutes. Thanks to David Banks, Free Your Instinct, and Soul Parkour. A shout-out to the athletes contributing to a special program aiding those needing mental health support."
ABOUT FREE YOUR INSTINCT Free Your Instinct is a young and dynamic charity that helps people with mental health support needs through the delivery of specialist parkour classes by qualified and experienced coaches. Free Your Instinct started in 2015. The Charity was founded by Charlotte Boenigk, a former exercise specialist for NHS Mental Health Services, Charley Hobson-Merrett, a former NHS accountant and Jacob Peregrine-Wheller, a ParkourUK qualified coach with a background working with participants with emotional and behavioural difficulties. SEELENPARKOUR (Soul Parkour) of ParkourONE Soul Parkour addresses individuals who have experience with (or are experiencing) mental crisis. Soul Parkour means the fusion of the aspects from Parkour according to TRuST Education (by the ParkourONE Academy) and the aspects of professional peer-support in mental health and psychiatric care. Project leader Madeleine Küsel is both, a ParkourONE Headcoach with almost a decade of experience with parkour and works as a professional peer-supporter in a psychiatric hospital. She stands for hope, courage and confidence when the person she is working with can not find it for him/herself at the moment. When the instructor calls out a camper's name, they throw their foam block and it progressively becomes more difficult with more names being called at once. It's a great way to learn each other's names while still having fun!

If they're hit they must go back to their spawn area and count to 30.

We wish we could have more tricking gatherings throughout the year because many people couldn't make it but it's better to have one amazing annual gathering than multiple gatherings. http://ensomovement.comNinja Run Challenge Event 2014Enso Movement Raleigh2015-02-05 | Whats up guys i know you've been waiting for some video for a while and we are so sorry. primarily me. I've just gotten busy but that's no excuse! Anyways i hope you enjoy this video from some footage taken a while back from the annual ninja run =) I hope you guys enjoy! -iffy
Summary of the event: Earlier in the year Ben Webster(co-owner), Chris Bess(Enso Athlete), and I (just a humble volunteer) went out to this event and it was awesome! Especially the sweet bean bun ;D. But enough about the food truck food. The event itself had some places to practice next level movement like the salmon ladder (0:15), our parkour area (0:20), and some free open spaces for random movement when it wasn't in use (0:45). There were health related booths everywhere and some...non health related ones...but we'll stick to the positives =). We met some great movers out there who joined in as you could see and we got to see some martial arts performances which were awesome! Then onto the 5k itself. While i didn't get much footage of the run itself i hope to get footage for 2015 =) Anyways that's about it. I hope you guys will join us this year at the Ninja Run Challenge and share this video with your friends because who knows maybe they want to come. Or you guys could come together =D
What is Ninja Run?: "Ninja Challenge is a 5k obstacle race that will see if you are fit to walk the path of a ninja warrior. While anybody can run, only ninja can run up walls. The Ninja Challenge goes beyond a simple race and will truly test your athleticism. Running becomes only half the battle when you face our 15+ obstacles that only a true ninja can complete."
Why wasn't there much footage of the run?: well you see we just didn't have anyone there to film it =( But if you would like to send in some footage from this upcoming event for the 2015 video then by all means email me at ifuddin3@gmail.com and we'll get something worked out to get the footage =) I'm only giving my email since i'm the one who is editing this and the enso movement email is already so full that it might get lost in the sea of emails =(
You guys do parkour? Cool! Do you guys have a website?: Yep and just to make it easier for you guys here's all the links you need to get all the information on Enso Movement. "I know a lot of people are all about hype in the tricking/parkour/other artistic movement communities, and I will admit that I've enjoyed a good bit of hype myself over the years. Gatherings are amazing and I love everybody who comes to them, and the sense of community that they bring to them. But on the other hand: it's days like today that really make me happy. Quiet days in a gym, with just a couple people moving passionately because it's beautiful. Nobody has to watch or say anything, but quiet congratulations and smiles are still offered and accepted gratefully. Thanks to Jeremy Lewis for dancing with me today, and to Alan Bao Tran for filming and overall contributing to the serene atmosphere." - Chris Bess

ensomovement.com twitter.com/ensomovement twitter.com/MadPandaStoreThe Development of the EnsoEnso Movement Raleigh2012-08-01 | The development of the logo was an intensive process. For us, it meant being involved as much as possible with every step. We wanted to represent our business in a way that was creative and meaningful as we began to lay down the foundations of Enso Movement. It had to be simple, clean, organic, and full.
We had been planning for this day for a long time to come - to solidify our bonds, thoughts, and emotions together in a collective way. We started at the very beginning by seeking the tools necessary for the task at hand. After selecting a tree, it was taken down to create a fire in which black ash was collected. Along the way, we celebrated the momentous occasion with quite a delicious meal. The embers were ground in to create this thick dusty powder. The fine black dust was mixed with water to create our ink. From an earlier day, thick grass was banded together to form our brush.
In the end, we decided on a circular symbol, an enso that is practiced within the Japanese calligraphy system. It symbolizes strength, aesthetic, and enlightment. The enso is not separate, but plays a part in something greater. It is an expression of the moment. The composition itself denies perfection although seeking control, balance, and regularity. These are the values behind Enso Movement.
Thanks to our friends and family for their continued support.
