Y'know they got big ol' statues, posters ... on a train, plushies, ...uh mugs... cellphone straps. Special Week is not a bad protagonist, it's just that there was a significant amount of more drama in S2 besides worrying about your friend and not overeating.But enough about S1, let's talk about OVA.BNW no Chikai is the OVA for uma musume S1 and centers around horse girls Biwa, Narita, and Winning Ticket. Honestly, the trio drama doesn't really matter but the ova is a good way to get to know some of the horses in S2. That's pretty much it. Another thing before I get in to S2. Uma Musume is based. Not like K-On based but based on real life events that are either shown in the races or the personality of the horse girls. Also Teio was born on 4/20 lmao.haha. No but for real. Umayon is pretty based. Yes ... yes ... let the racism flow through you ... USE THOSE ANTISEMETIC REMARKSSo now about S2. So you get a new protagonist pair, instead of Spe and Suzuka you now have hit singer, Machico and Lighting McQueen. A new generation of horse girls and teams are have joined the academy, and new characters have been added to appeal to a certain demographic. Oguri cap is still eating. Goldship is still cracked. And I had to change my top horse girl. It takes a lot of emotional drama to force me to move the gag character under the soft crybaby character. S2 really makes you feel like no one loves you. S1 touched a bit on sports, but S2 really lays on the highs and lows of being an athlete. Whether it's injuries, burnout and loss of motivation, not being the crowd's favourite winner, or wanting to quit ... oh and depression. Throughout S2, dreams are constantly crushed, remade, and then crushed again in the most despairingly horrible ways. But that's life. Some may say that some wins in the races are inconsistent because one horse was clearly stronger than the other, but put it this way. ATHLETE'S ARE NOT PERFECT.Athlete's don't always dominate for their entire career, anthropomorphic horse girl or not. ... I don't have any real life examples because I don't watch sports, I watch animes about sports. We can talk about Keijo later.If it wasn't apparent already, Uma Musume is one of those shows that ask the question, "What if we turned _ into cute anime girls?" in this case, historical and present racehorses. This question plays into other animes such as Azur Lane with the WWII warships, the Fate series with various historical figures, and Seikon no Qwaser with the periodic table- huh? I was told to never mention Qwaser ever again. Overall, I would actually recommend Keijo-*cough* I mean Uma Musume S2 to normal people, not just the Teekyuu or the Ro-kyu-bu fans. Obviously it's not a shounen nor a shoujou anime, but one that really makes some valid points in sports anime. One could say that Uma Musume is like the track n' field Haikyuu for straight people.
