This was my time ever to compete on Worlds final stage and it felt absolutely amazing.
While the L10P cases weren’t ideal, I was really happy that I fixed my weakness in inspection and turning through months of training, and got my best OH average this year in the most important round.
Throughout the warmup comps leading up to this, I was having so much trouble turning in comp. I could not find a way to make my hands not die. And the thought of doing terribly on Worlds made me so anxious. But once I got to the Worlds venue, sit down at the table watching and talking to fellow rouxers, I got so so much inspiration from them — from how they solve to how they think and how they carry themselves—and I was finally, finally able to find out the missing piece to fixing my turning issues.
Looking back, it feels like everything was just timed perfectly. I really couldn’t ask for more. I want to thank everyone for this wonderful, beautiful experience. And special thanks to Wenjie, Midori & Kumo y’all always the best. :3
R1 last two solves could've been calmer, but otherwise I was super happy with the consistency of these solves. Paradoxically, it seems the key to faster times is to stay in that slow, relaxed, soothed state of mind, and the rest will happen naturally. This is the Tao I've been following, and I will follow it through. :)

R1: 9.06 (8.28) 9.21 9.15 (12.25) = 9.14
R2: 9.96 9.22 (11.00) (8.16) 8.70 = 9.29
Done at Berkeley November Weekday Tricubealon 2024. WR15/CR5/NR2 at time of upload.
Ever since I re-launched my cubing career with Roux in early 2019, I have been working hard for this moment. One-handed NR has always been the grand goaI I was chasing after, and for god knows how many times I've let it slip away with just one silly mistake. I dreamt of all the ways this could turn out, but the long and winding path towards NR was actually an incredibly educating one. Through the failures I have learned important lessons about who I am and how to deal with myself. I wouldn't trade these experiences for anything else.
And now, long at last, it has happened. I did it. And twice in a comp. I am at a loss for words. It felt like the best moment of my cubing career so far. And of course, I want to thank you all who have supported me. A big part of why I keep doing this is because I know deep down, someone out there have always believed in me. :)
Done at Kenmore Mini C 2024 Final round. NR/WR14 at the time of uploading.
I have been trying new tracking/inspection techniques to fix my 2H comp nerves — so far they seem to be serving me pretty well.
Competing close to Midori also helped. I’m sure i gained much good luck from all that belly rubbing. :) I shall keep calm and pet on.

This past week I attended the local comp at the Univ. of Washington. My OH final, as presented here, was one of those classic Zhouver rounds -- good solves, PR potential, only to fumble the last moves where it mattered. :)
I did enjoy the comp overall, it was a great experience and nice way to wrap up the year. (Gotta love the venue and scenery around UW) I was able to get something good for every OH comp I attended this year, which I'm super happy with. I will continue to strive to represent Roux and the art of slow solving & I think next year is going to be great. :3
Done at R1, Davis Fall 2023. WR19 at the time of comp.
First two solves of R2 were 8.84 & 8.36, so that makes for a sub-9 rolling ao5 too :D
Overall I'm really happy with the result. RS3M V5 is such a god-tier OH cube, it's very stable and forgiving, and enabled me to get PRs in both OH & 2H this comp despite only having used it for three days.
On top of that, I am handling comp nerves much better now. I think I've broken through a barrier after Nationals, and this comp is a continuation of that. Now that I have found the recipe (I hope), I will keep cooking until a good round comes along. :)
Landed that BPA despite a cold hand and bad start.. I can't put into words just how exhilarating that felt. :)
a big thank u to those on streaming chat who believed in me. it's not ZHOUVER yet.
To be honest, I never thought I would have a WR potential moment in my career. For the longest time, my official times have been far worse than what I could do at home. But in this comp I think I've come close to reaching a break-through moment, after 2 years of hard work fixing my comp performance issues one by one. These solid 7 second solves show that perhaps I still had a chance of landing that perfect average. While the last solve was a let-down, it was also a reminder that I still got a lot to work on, and that we should be well aware the only thing permanent in life is the impermanence of it.
Overall US Nats 2023 was a great experience for me. Racing with and talking to Woaji was incredibly inspiring and wholesome, and I can say that I am now more motivated than ever at competing and trying to get good at OH officially. I might or might not get there, but the journey is still going on strong, and that's what matters, and it's only getting better from here.

counting 8 is a win ig
pretty happy with the turning here. I keep on getting those NR fails (6th? time for me lol) but hey PR is still something to celebrate. :D
ball core debut.
4th place in round 2 which is not terrible considering who's there.
then in final round I completely forgot the fact that I used ball core, and ruined the round with my crappy main.
turns out sleeplessness is not messing with with my solves
but rather my memory ---- I only found out about this yesterday. :3
overall, I'm not too sad about these solves. turning was slow but very smooth, which is a style i'm aiming for at comps. scrambles were also on the easy side (best out of 4 rounds this year so far). and my comp nerves were also very mild, thanks to the round being at 4am.
that being said, it would've been a easy mid 9 average had i not fumbled the 4th solve. i still need to work on comp nerves on critical solves -- relaxing my muscles and making sure i'm gripping like i normally do, etc. but yeah, a solid average to kick off this year for me.
i also went back home and hugged midori after the round.

Fixing comp performance is such an elusive process, it's like herding cats. I'll keep going though, being the cat lover I am. :3
only needed 5 sec L10P last solve for NR and case was easy but my hand decided to act like a shivering snail.
7.41 is like, decent though. probably my first good solve ever.
3 yrs after switching to roux, I finally did it with the help and love from many friends and cats!!
