They all once disappeared from Central Europe. Now it is hoped that they can return to their old homeland. But, once animals are reintroduced into the wild, we seldom get to see them again. This film accompanies them on their journey and shows how they survive in their new homes, and what challenges they need to overcome in order to reclaim their once lost ranges.
With special camera traps and a lot of patience, the film makers achieve to capture intimate moments in the lives of these shy creatures.
Besides showing the success of some of the reintroduced species, the film makes clear that a successful long-term strategy can only be achieved if ecosystems are protected and kept intact for animals to stay alive.

With the civil rights movement gaining momentum, the Ku Klux Klan once again set out on the march in the Southern United States. Complicitly with local authorities, white supremacists unleashed a wave of hatred in the 1960s: the attack on the church in Birmingham, the assassination of civil rights activists. Their crimes shocked public opinion.
Under political pressure, the FBI went on the offensive. The result: in the 1970s, the Klan had only a few thousand members left. A new leader, David Duke, tried for a time to give it a veneer of respectability, but terror was still part of the organization's DNA. Little by little, the Klansmen swapped their hoods for military fatigues and swastika tattoos. Today the ranks of the Klan and other supremacist groups are swelling once again in Donald Trump's America.

When the Westerners were finally granted permission to leave, they were shocked to find their peers in Europe cheering for the very dictator they had just fled. Conversely, Western Maoists journeyed to China to enjoy revolutionary tours, often returning disillusioned or confused. Inside Mao’s China tells for the first time about this period of recent Chinese history from the perspective of the small number of Western eyewitnesses, who were there at the time. These ventures between cultures and political systems are among the few who have experienced the Cultural Revolution from the inside and are able to share their experiences without fear. Nevertheless, until now they had preferred to remain silent.
The unique personal stories of our protagonists combined with rare historical footage will give a new perspective on one of the 20th century's most controversial utopia.

This is the fascinating story of Europe's largest rehabilitation centre for brown bears, which is located in the rugged Carpathian Mountains, near the wild border with Romania and Hungary. Our team implants itself within the bear community in this isolated outpost to tell the largely unknown story of how — despite the conflicts tearing it apart – the Ukraine is managing to unite on a common cause - to return to this community of exemplary, massive brown bears, their stolen dignity.
In 2011, the Ukrainian Environmental Ministry banned keeping brown bears in private captivity. But before then, it was not uncommon for bears to be held captive in horrific conditions. They were forced to drink hard alcohol – often vodka – then made to wear skirts and dance or perform other tricks in hotels, restaurants, petrol stations and illegal circuses to amuse visitors. Some of these places still exist today, but one by one, the bears are being released from their shackles and reintroduced to the wild.
Shot entirely in full HD in one of the most rugged and wild landscapes of eastern Europe, this film series takes the viewer on an intimate voyage deep into the Carpathian Mountains, to tell the story of how one of the continent's most majestic animals is being rehabilitated into the wild after a life of abuse. Each bear's unique story is drawn out in a natural and unscripted manner, with filming techniques that allows for the juxtaposition of the squalid sad conditions of captivity with the challenges of re-establishing a healthy new life and body in the wild. Particular attention will be given to the relation of trust and distrust between man and beast, as well as the power, personality and resilience of each animal in its natural habitat.

These documents, that have been accessed by Vincent Jauvert (journalist for French weekly “Nouvel Observateur”), shed a new light on the bitter struggle that opposes the US administration and General De Gaulle. These documents have been compared, on the French side, with archives from the Quai d’Orsay – the French Foreign Ministry -, from the depth of the Second Bureau and with army archives on French nuclear testing.
Our film offers a vivid and accurate account of a dozen or more ‘episodes’ and incidents – some famous, some hitherto unkown – of America’s ten-year long battle against De Gaulle. Preference is given to archives most recently discovered.

The Mediterranean Sea is crisscrossed by traffics of every kind, some legal, others lethal. Over the last five years the filmmakers have been gathering details about a tragic and terrifying story on the merchants of death. Lethal Cargo covers the fleeing of refugees from war regions in leaky boats towards safe havens – Migration, the spilling of toxic waste into the depths of the ocean during goods transportation and in our two most recent episodes the illegal handling of drugs and weapons across the Mediterranean. Drugs are, of course, the trail blazer of all trafficking across the Mediterranean. In the light of the renewed Europe-wide agreement on policing the Mediterranean and privileged access to the Police investigators, Coast Guard (surface and air units) and Navy of Italy, France, Spain and Greece, the producers have created a four part series on the crossroads of death in the Mediterranean: Lethal Cargo.

in 1865, has survived throughout the decades and has always managed to rise from its ashes.
It has been making the news for over 150 years. 150 years of hatred, racism and horror . A
cruel history whose demons still haunt America.
In 1865, a handful of Southern Civil War veterans founded a secret society: the Ku
Klux Klan. Very quickly, the Klan instituted a reign of terror among the recently freed black
population. Murders and lynchings were common. In Washington, Congress launched an
offensive against the invisible empire, which was officially destroyed in 1872. The Ku Klux
Klan was reborn in 1915 thanks to the film The Birth of a Nation by D. W. Griffith. Under new
leadership, it evolved to fit into an America undergoing major changes and broadened its
trade in hatred. The KKK became anti-immigrant, anti-urban, anti-communist, anti-Semitic,
and anti-Catholic. Nearly four million Americans joined what would become a highly
influential mass lobbying organization. But at the end of the 1920s, scandals and the
economic crisis weakened the movement, which eventually disappeared again after the
Second World War.

He chose to keep quiet in the face of the crimes committed by the Nazis throughout Europe, crimes that even took place below the Pope’s own windows, like the 1943 liquidation of the Jewish Ghetto in Rome, to which the pope made no official reaction.
At first glance, Nazism and Catholicism are diametrically opposed. The Vatican even seems an institution beyond all suspicion. The Church, however, faced in turn with the rise of Nazism, the Second World War and the extermination of Jews, will play an ambiguous – at times unholy – role. Several men of the Church, priests and bishops, being fervent admirers of Hitler, even fell into complicity…

There are many ways animals use sound, from lions roaring to warn others of their territorial boundaries to deer bellowing a challenge to rivals. Others like frogs and birds, use love songs to entice a mate. And there are even animals that use sounds to ‘see’. Both bats and dolphins make high frequency sounds and listen to the returning echoes bouncing off any objects in their path to navigate and locate their prey. The sound-track of nature brings our world to life.

On the front line of ecological degradation, and by experimenting new ways of inhabiting the planet, of producing, of living together, women around the world have started to create a new world to come, in alliance with men.
What are women’s relationships with the territories and their modes of action? Why does being a woman help to innovate differently and positively, in alliance with men? How can we connect more peacefully with the Earth? And what are we looking for when we rediscover this contact with the living world, plants and animals?
This documentary series takes us from Kenya to India, from the West Indies to Poland, to share vibrant human stories and highlight an arsenal of solutions - direct actions, ways of thinking, influences - that are off the beaten track of neoliberalism and patriarchy. They contribute to reinventing territories in all their dimensions, human, but also geographic, economic, social and natural and show that another way is possible.

"Trade wars are good, and easy to win," writes U.S President Donald Trump on Twitter. However, Trump is quite alone with this opinion in the professional world. History has taught us that trade wars are not "easy" or "good." Nevertheless, experts fear that the conflicts Trump has instigated will turn into a tangible trade war - and to the point of striking parallels in history. What led to the outbreak of trade wars in the past? Who is the winner, and who will lose in the battle for advantages in global trade? Moscow, 31 December 1991: the Red Flag of the Kremlin is pulled down and replaced by the three-colored banner of Russia, marking the end of the Soviet Union and of its ideologies.
Who could imagine that only two years after the fall of the Berlin Wall, Soviet citizens would bring down the statues of Lenin in the very birthplace of Communism?
From 1989 to 1991 a string of unpredictable and inescapable events happened, through a jolting acceleration of history, bringing to light the rivalry between two men and their struggle for the first place: Gorbachev, hindered by the economic results of his perestroika, and Yeltsin, embodying the hopes of the Russian people.
Illustrated with interviews of top protagonists such as Mikhail Gorbachev himself, the documentary recounts, day by day, the critical last two years of the USSR and sheds light on the power struggles that led to the sudden collapse of one of the most totalitarian empires of the 20th century.

Since its formation 4.55 billion years ago, Earth has been continuously subjected to incredibly powerful forces. With the Earth’s crust in perpetual evolution, the map of our world is tirelessly redrawing itself. Just like any living being, lands and oceans are born, grow and succumb. Continents join and part, driven by collisions and subductions – movements we perceive through earthquakes, volcanic eruptions or tsunamis.
To follow the story of continental drift, we travel over the globe to meet committed scientists carrying out advanced research at the most representative sites for each major geological event. With them and through their work, we discover how the subtilities of the tectonic process can be read in the relief of the land. But this voyage is also an opportunity to set the development of life against the geological time scale, from the first appearance of living organisms, aquatic and terrestrial plants, mammals, and – finally – human beings.
A fascinating geological epic that takes us back over a billion years ago, to piece together the jigsaw puzzle of three of the largest continents – Africa, North America and South America – and decipher the evolution of their magnificent landscapes, tirelessly re-sculpted.

In the night between the 12th and 13th November 2019 80% of the old town of Venice drowned. Hundreds of businesses were destroyed and the ancient crypt of St. Mark’s Cathedral was flooded. It was the worst flooding since the great flood of 1966, which set in motion a worldwide effort to save the city from the dual threats of subsidence and rising sea levels. But the plan has failed. Despite investments worth 6 million euros into the MOSE surge barrier, the high lunar tide, heavy rain and the easterly winds drove the sea right into Venice’s streets. Starting “The Day after”, we assess what led to the disaster that may have killed Venice once and for all. We reconstruct the tragedy with hundreds of photographs and videos shot during the high tide, and we look into the past, more than fifty years ago, when it all started.

There, on the banks of the Sanaga river, Canelle’s long apprenticeship began. Over five years, Patricia gradually taught her to become autonomous and to live as part of a society, as her mother would have done. In the course of the time they shared together, a strong bond formed between Patricia and Cannelle. But the return to life in the wild as part of a troop of chimpanzees is inevitable, and the separation was always going to be delicate.
Over five years, the filmmakers captured Canelle’s incredible story. Following the entire rehabilitation process until her return to the wild, this documentary bears testimony to the poignant mutual attachment between a chimpanzee and its adoptive mother.

Thanks to the declassification of numerous archives that had remained secret until now, cross-referenced with testimonies from agents on all sides (including Mikhail Gorbachev, who speaks for the first time about the invasion), this film offers a fresh perspective on history and helps us understand how we reached such a confrontation between the Muslim world and the Western world.
In Western countries, this conflict is known as "the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan." For the Russians, however, it was the "deployment of a limited contingent." This so-called "limited contingent" operation lasted 10 years and played a crucial role in the collapse of the Soviet Union. It was the last conflict of the Cold War and the first in a long series of wars that have yet to come to an end.
This film aims to revisit this lesser-known chapter of contemporary history by examining it from the perspective of the Soviet "invaders."

They are taking over arable and inhabited land, which, near to the deserts, is shrinking rapidly. Natural barriers of vegetation found at the edges of the deserts are not sufficient in number or strong enough to hold back the sand, which takes flight and then falls on Beijing.
Each spring, the Chinese capital and region around it are drowned for days on end in sand storms. 270 million people are suffocating. China is at war against deserts, which threatens to swallow the land.

For Kiloussou’s people, honey plays a vital role. It provides food and the means to obtain cattle, but it is especially used to make a beer which is the focal point of all of the tribe’s important rites.
In the heart of the bush, Kiloussou and M’zegabe call upon their guide bird, which immediately responds and leads them to a tree.
Actually, the bird’s cooperation with the N’dorobo is not selfless.
Once the honey has been removed, the bird can eat what it likes best without fear of being stung: the wax and the larvae which the “ hunters ” let fall on the ground.
Thanks to their faithful ally, Kiloussou and his people can soon return to the village to celebrate their abundant harvest.

Denmark in the year 1064. Jova (Leonie Benesch) lives as a servant in the household of the merchant Ottar, who runs his business in the town of Haithabu. One day she finds out that her father (Reiner Schöne) was a renowned warrior who set out to the east shortly after her birth and didn’t come back. From then on Jova only has one thing on her mind: finding her father. She escapes from Ottar ́s house, dresses up like a man to hire on a ship that sails to the land of the Rus.
The story of Jova leads us deep inside the fundamentally changing society of the Vikings. At this time, Haithabu is one of the most important commercial centers of the Vikings with its numerous emporiums connected from all around the Baltic Sea to the Black Sea. Through the extensive trading with other peoples, Christianity gets intensified influence in the live of the Vikings. Especially kings, traders and women become strong supporters of this new religion. During this time strong kingdoms arise from the middle of the Viking princes. But Christianization and the emerging kingdoms are both a blessing and a curse and herald the destruction of Viking culture.

Louis ruled for almost 60 years. As a military leader he was popular and successful, but he then led France into the disastrous Seven Year War with Britain. As his Empire dwindled and his treasury emptied, Louis amused himself with a series of scandalous love affairs, set up his own private brothel in the gardens of his palace and bedded five sisters from the same aristocratic family. He fathered at least 30 illegitimate children, survived an assassination attempt and for many years effectively shared power with his favourite mistress – the glamorous and brilliant Madame Pompadour.

Simon Wiesenthal and Serge and Beate Klarsfeld set about tracking down Nazi war criminals to bring them to justice, like the directors and guards of the Treblinka death camp, who were tried in 1964 in Dusseldorf, and Klaus Barbie, whom the Klarsfelds tracked down to Bolivia in 1971, and who was tried in 1987 in Lyon.
While in July 2002, the Simon Wiesenthal Center launched its operation “Last Chance” to find the last Nazis still alive, others were trying to preserve the memory, the culture, and the ghosts of those who had disappeared, an exercise which at times resulted in visitor circuits, raising the difficult question: where does commemoration end, and tourist attraction begin? Faced with the disappearance of the last survivors, it was no doubt literature which offered the best way to conserve their memory, according to the writer A. B. Yeoshua. Especially since two phenomena were threatening to undermine understanding of the genocide: a feeling of saturation, and the banalization of terms, which tend to obscure its absolute horror.
