Lyrics:
Spoken part:
Transcending history and the world, a tale of soul and swords eternally
retold
To love! To shine!
We all need to shine on, to see
how far we've come on our journey
How far yet to go, searching for our star
Deep in the night, I pray in my heart
for that special light
to shower me with love
to shower me with power
to shine from above
I got to get to the Edge of Soul, to carry on what I believed in from the
very start
I got to get to the Edge of Soul, to carry on deep in my heart
To love, to shine (2x)
Come strip down and face it, your all
About time you broke down your wall
Free your mind
A brand new world waits for you, you?ll find
Nobody can just do it for you
It's time that you knew
It's up to you to love
it's up to you to shine
the light true and blue
You got to get to the Edge of Soul, to carry on what you believed in from
the very start
You got to get to the Edge of Soul, to carry on, deep in your heart
You got to get to the Edge of Soul, to carry on what you believed in from
the very start (3x)
You got to get to the Edge of Soul, to carry on, deep in your heart
To love, to shine! (2x)
To love!

Usually, some of these albums that were released would consists of two especially recorded versions of the game soundtrack and the rest would consist of the game's original soundtrack. After the band members went their own ways, they would find themselves involved in other Sega projects. Mitsuyoshi would be responsible for the soundtrack to Virtua Fighter, Daytona USA and the two installments of Shenmue and Matsumae would be involved in Sega Rally and Virtua Fighter 3.

The title was based on the 1996 J. League, being published on November 22, almost two weeks later after the end of that season. At the time of its release J-League Jikkyō Winning Eleven 97 was considered to be the most realistic soccer game for the PlayStation or any other console. It featured narration by Jon Kabira and commentary by Yasutaro Matsuki, a former Japanese football player and manager.
All-star match. It is visible the presence of Jorginho who was considered the most valuable player of the 1996 season
Naoki Matsuda in the players' profile section.
The 1996 season can be included in the "Golden Age" as in back then J.League was at its popularity peak, and many likeable superstars were playing in it: Guido Buchwald, Uwe Bein, Dragan Stojković, Salvatore Schillaci, Ivan Hašek, Dunga, Edílson, Jorginho, Mazinho, Careca, Ruy Ramos, Hidetoshi Nakata, among many others.
Both the playstyle and the league format (double stage with Victory Goal and Final match at the end) were very characteristic and promoted overly offensive, stylish and spectacular football.
Up to two players can compete in a series of games that include: Exhibition, full J.League season, Hyper cup, All-Star match and Penalty Kick modes. It is also possible to view the players' profile.
