Plasma Speaker + BandKevin Haninger2012-05-19 | Seen at Maker Faire, a band uses a tesla coil as a plasma speaker to accompany their music!ME122 CNC Project MasterCam Verification VideoKevin Haninger2012-05-01 | Mastercam's predicted machining for our CNC part.Text Message Switched Wall OutletKevin Haninger2011-12-17 | This setup allows a wall switch to be powered on or off remotely via text message. Equiptment used includes Infrared Wall outlet from dealExtreme.com, an Arduino Uno and a small servo to trigger a remote control.Motorized Foosball GoalieKevin Haninger2011-12-15 | Final project for UC Berkeley's EE 125: Introduction to Robotics. We built an automated foosball goalie which uses images from a Flea2 camera on a tripod above the mockup playing field to determine the position of the ball and predict where the goalie needs to be for a block. Shown interface is written with LabView. Please note the animation shows inaccuracies; it is performing a relative rotation with absolute rotation data, so the leg swinging is overpronounced. This has since been addressed, and the raw data (acceleration and rotation) is verified.
There is a wireless node just above the knee, just above the ankle and on the toe of the foot. The wire seen in the video runs to a shoe which captures the ground reaction force at 4 locations in the shoe to help with diagnosing gait irregularities.Motorized ShelfKevin Haninger2011-12-06 | Built for UC Berkeley's ME130 (Design of Planar Machinery), in this video we demonstrate a prototype for a shelving system which serves to increase the usable storage space of those who cannot access high shelves. A full scale model could be built around a kitchen or garage cabinet and retracts fully to conceal the shelf when not in use.Sun Tracking Solar OvenKevin Haninger2011-12-06 | Senior Design Project at UC Berkeley ME102B. We took a Sun Oven and added a belt-driven turntable to rotate the oven and a linear actuator to tilt the oven. The black box shown in the video is the sensor array, and detects which side has more incident light. This is then picked up by an Arduino Duemillanove which uses PI control to drive the oven so the face is normal to the maximum incident light.Swing Up Controller for Inverted PendulumKevin Haninger2011-12-06 | Swing up controller for UC Berkeley's ME134/EE128. Hardware provided by lab, all control software written by us in Matlab/SIMULINK implementing QuaRC. Shown is swing up controller switching to stabilizing controller; and showing recovery from large disturbance and small disturbance.
