Midwest Central Railroad 8/31/24 Walts Nephew 2024-09-03 | Great day for railroading! Today we visit a railway not featured before on this channel: the Midwest Central Railroad. For the Labor Day weekend I visited the Old Threshers Reunion in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa to see all the tractors, traction engines and vintage motorcars in service. The best of all, naturally, was the railroad and their steam engine in service: Surry, Sussex, and Southampton Railway No.6 “Maria,” a narrow gauge Baldwin 2-6-0 Mogul locomotive with a unique valve gear configuration not commonly found in the U.S.In this compilation you will see several shots of the engine in stride burning her oil richly with black smoke, hear her wonderful Rio Grande 5 chime whistle (and even her secondary single note whistle if you listen carefully), ride on the train on the D&RGW gondola behind the tender, some wheel slip on the last incline before arriving at the north station, and all the old equipment the railway encompasses. And, out of sympathy, you’ll also see the Carbon Limestone Co.’s No.9 Plymouth diesel shunter hauling the second train.Hope you enjoy!

Ghost Town and Calico Railroad 7/31/24 (feat. RGS 41) Walts Nephew 2024-08-01 | Great day for railroading! Took a moment to visit the railway down the road from Walt's Magic Kingdom to check out some rolling stock from the great Rio Grande of Colorado. Ever since RGS 41 came back into service earlier this year I've been meaning to go to Knott's Berry Farm to see her in person and, lo, yesterday was that day. These videos do no justice to show how BIG she really is. Even though she is narrow gauge, the sheer magnitude of her boiler and dimensions is unparalleled (and to think the small K-27s are even BIGGER than the C-19s). So, without any further ado, here is RGS 41 both on and off the train crawling around the old farm yearning for another good stretch of the wheels on the Durango and Silverton or Cumbres and Toltec. We begin where I first saw her rolling when waiting for a train at Tomorrowland Station; then we see her from the entrance of the Park as she arrives at Main Street Station; we then climb aboard as we pass through Adventureland and pull into New Orleans Square; we continue on to Toontown Depot and, while traversing the Rivers of America, observe and listen to the much improved valve timing; we end with a departure through "it's a small world" with a familiar Crosby whistle at the crossing. Disneyland Railroad Audio (feat. Vic Perrin) Walts Nephew 2024-01-31 | Here now is a little treat thanks to a colleague of mine. Originally, the Disneyland Railroad was narrated by the original Voice of Disneyland Jack Wagner, but when the Park started to undergo more changes over the decades the narration needed to be freshened up a bit. And so, one of the intermediate narrators for this job was Vic Perrin from the 1970s-1980s. During his tenure there was a brief stint where Prof. Ludwig Von Drake narrated, then he was succeeded by Thurl Ravenscroft, Earl Boen and presently (regretfully) Bob Joles.This particular recording is from the late 1970s and just before 1983 because it mentions the construction of "New Fantasyland" while en route to Tomorrowland.Hope you enjoy!

Today we leave the Land of Magic for a brief venture into old Los Angeles to Platform 15 where the majestic Northern-type 3751 of the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway was simmering for foamers and railman's alike to observe and appreciate. Because of the incline we had to back up slightly to pick up the slack of the passengers cars and then crawled all the way to Toontown Depot. We then jump into the Primeval World for more cab shots and a lovely view of Ripley's reflection in the diorama glass before pulling into Main Street Station. We then get a view on the engineer's side of Ripley passing through it's a small world, over the crossing and on her way to Tomorrowland before ending the compilation with Holliday pulling into Main Street at evensong.As a little PSA, please ensure you and all members of your party remain properly seat during the entirety of your trip. Well, a good week has passed since the park celebrated 68 years of magic making and, for this day, we get to see Walt's original engines carrying guests around Disneyland. The roster is as follows:C.K. Holliday - Holiday 4 GreenE.P. Ripley - Excursion 3(Fred Gurley, Ernest S. Marsh, Ward Kimball, Holiday 2 Red, Holiday 5 Blue and Lilly Belle).We begin our compilation with a look at Holliday crossing over the Critter Country trestle coming out of Splash Mountain; next is a view of Ripley arriving at Main Street Station as seen from the Fire Department; then we get a glimpse of Ripley on the Rivers of America with the Mark Twain before briefly making the curve left on Big Thunder Trail; then we see Holliday arriving at Toontown Depot; followed by Ripley passing through the jungles of Adventureland before announcing her arrival at New Orleans Square; and finally see Ripley passing through it's a small world and sounding off at the crossing all while the evening fireworks were on display.While passing by the roundhouse it could be seen Ernest's smokebox door has been removed so, perhaps, a great deal of work is going into her well being.Hope you enjoy!

Marsh, Ward Kimball, Holiday 2 Red, Holiday 4 Green).We start the compilation on H5 being pulled by a clacking Fred through the Primeval World where we see the pterodactyls flapping on the waterfall after a long overdue absence. We then take our focus over to Ripley for the remainder of the compilation. First we see her taking the trestle bridge at the left curve on Big Thunder Trail. Then we get a platform view of her linkages coming into Main Street Station. Next we follow behind along the Rivers of America into Toontown Dept. We then hear her announce her impending arrival to the crossing and pan over to the roundhouse where we see Ward simmering in the sun blowing down. We then see Ripley pulling into Main Street from a window before finally seeing Ripley, again, pulling into Main Street as seen from the main entrance. Hope you enjoy!

Disneyland Railroad 5/9/23 (feat. Ernest/Holliday and Ripley) Walts Nephew 2023-05-10 | GREAT day for railroading! This was probably one of the most exciting day on the DRR I have ever experienced. The roster first started out as follows:Ernest S. Marsh - Holiday 2 RedE.P. Ripley - Excursion 3In the afternoon, for some reason, Ernest had to be uncoupled from her train and swapped out for, surprisingly, Holliday! At that point the roster changed to the following for the rest of the day:C.K. Holliday - Holiday 2 RedE.P. Ripley - Excursion 3(Fred Gurley, Ernest S. Marsh, Ward Kimball, Holiday 4 Green, Holiday 5 Blue and Lilly Belle).We start the compilation with a view from the cattle car of Ernest on the Rivers of America, followed by her arrival into Toontown Depot. Fro there we check in on Ripley as we make a few trips around the park and take a good listen to her whistle. From 8:27-11:54 you may observe the extraordinary: first, Ernest running light to return to the roundhouse leaving H2 stranded at Toontown; then Holliday reversing to Toontown to collect her train. From there we have a cinematic shot of Ripley pulling into Toontown followed by Holliday pulling into Tomorrowland. For the remainder of the compilation are clips behind Holliday as she pilots her way through the night along the Rivers of America. Pay particular attention to the final clip at 18:40 if you want to know what it's like to hear an engine sing. It was quite wonderful to see the sister engines operating together again. Maine Narrow Gauge Steam Walts Nephew 2023-05-05 | Here now is a compilation of one of the most quaint and unique locomotives in New England: Maine 2-footers. All Baldwin built, these (primarily) Forney locomotives give one countless wonder and amazement as to these small but powerful locomotives for local freight and lovely passenger commuter services. Featured within this compilation is the Wiscasset, Waterville and Farmington Railway and the Maine Narrow Gauge Railroad Museum. Hope you enjoy!
Mark Twains Whistle Walts Nephew 2023-04-28 | Here now is a compilation of the greatest whistle to ever grace a river-bound paddle steamer: the whistle of the Queen of the River Mark Twain. Unfortunately, it is rather difficult to discover who is the maker of this chime whittles. However, we can estimate that this is probably a 4 or 5" diameter whistle, either a 3 or 4 chime, and is definitely not a Lunkenheimer. Hope you enjoy!

Grand Canyon Diorama: 65th Anniversary Walts Nephew 2023-03-31 | In honor of the 65th anniversary of the Grand Canyon Diorama of the Disneyland Railroad, here is the original, rare footage of the dedication and opening of the diorama on 31 March 1958. Here is newly-commissioned engine No.3 Fred Gurley with Excursion 3 being piloted by Walt Disney and AT&SF President Fred G. Gurley with Hopi Chief Nevangnewa blessing the engine and diorama on the occasion. Ripley. Walt's engine has finally returned to passenger services hauling the Disneyland Limited around Disneyland. As such, the roster today is as follows: Fred Gurley - Holiday 5 Blue & Lilly Belle E.P. Ripley - Holiday 2 Red (C.K. Holliday, Ernest S. Marsh, Ward Kimball, Holiday 4 Green and Excursion 3). We start this compilation with Ripley pulling into Main Street Station after completing her first official run with passengers. Then we take a front-seat view for a Grand Circle Tour. Then is a shot from the Hungry Bear Restaurant as she crosses the Critter Country trestle bridge, pulling into New Orleans Square, distance shots as seen from the caboose and then pulling into and leaving Main Street in the lovely, but chilly, afternoon. Flying Scotsman: 100 Years in Steam Walts Nephew 2023-02-24 | To mark 100 years since the world's most famous locomotive rolled out of Doncaster Works on 24 February 1923, here is a look at the continuing life of LNER 4472 Flying Scotsman. In this compilation, I tried to give a general breadth of the engine's career on the rails from her beginnings to present day. Unfortunately I do not believe there is any footage of when Scotsman first starter her tenure as a simple A1 when she was numbered 1472, but thanks to the namesake film in 1929 we do have some of the earliest footage of here when she was renumbered as 4472. Then we get a glimpse at her A3 days when she was modified around WWII, experimented with a double chimney and German-based "elephant ear" smoke deflectors during the BR days, and then her life in preservation with Alan Pegler and others. Naturally, footage had to be included of her trips abroad to the United States (including her shipment from Liverpool and then her smuggling across San Francisco Bay to return home to Britain) and to Australia. Also featured is James May with his enthusiasm shared by many for this wonderful locomotive. Hope you enjoy!

Mickey and Minnies Runaway Railway (Preshow + POV) Walts Nephew 2023-02-06 | Here is a point-of-view experience of the world premier of "Perfect Picnic" with Mickey, Minnie, Pluto and Goofy running amuck in their toony lives. This latest attraction in Toontown really is a joy and great fun. Walt Disney Imagineering really outdid themselves especially with the El Capitoon Theater façade and the queue with all the little Easter eggs and references to all things Walt, Mickey and Disney. Been a while since I last visited the Park for some evening runs aboard the Disneyland Limited. The day's roster is different from the past month and is as follows:C.K. Jungle Cruise 12/21/22 (feat. Amazon Belle & Skipper Evan) Walts Nephew 2022-12-22 | While traveling through the southern continents, I decided I might try to find the great Dr. Livingston. Knowing I could not make the trek on foot, I booked passage with the Jungle Navigation Company for a "World Famous Jungle Cruise," so named because they are world famous for being world famous. The boat, or bote, was Amazon Belle; the Skipper, Evan. I did not find Dr. Livingston but I survived the perilous journey while also finding my funny bone.All jokes aside, this Jungle Cruise was absolutely exceptional and one of the finest I have ever taken to date. I cannot recommend Skipper Evan enough so, please, if you make your way to Adventureland look for this fine fellow.Hope you enjoy!
