Thrift Store Smells Crafting in the Rain 2025-08-05 | I got all these clothes for free at a big swap event last weekend.I washed them all as soon as I got home, but that just seemed to spread the perfume / detergent / must smell though all of them even more.So I did the following and now they're fragrance free!1️⃣ Hang outside in sun and fresh air for two days2️⃣ Spray with alcohol and let evaporate3️⃣ Soak overnight in vinegar water (large bucket outside, about 1/2 cup per gallon of water)4️⃣ Wring out and wash regular cycle5️⃣ Dryer til half dry6️⃣ Outside dry the rest of the wayThis combination seems to get rid of all the varieties of smells - bacteria, oil based perfumes, laundry chemicals.
