This is just a basic VVT (Variable Valve Timing) solenoid test, using a 12 volt DC power supply to open and close the valve solenoid. If this valve gets clogged up or stops working properly it can cause the following problems:
• Difficulty starting
• Rough Idle
• Poor engine acceleration
• Poor engine performance
• Excessive fuel consumption
• Check engine light
• Increased engine noise (especially when accelerating)
• Misfire when accelerating
You may also get a check engine light caused by a P0011 code. It’s worth cleaning this solenoid first, to see if it will fix the issue. It is recommended that you clean the valve using an EGR & Carb cleaner.
