To say it’s been a strange year would be an understatement and I know you’re all feeling it, too. We are starting to enter the cold bleakness of winter and it has stirred my senses again. I love it when the leaves are gone, exposing the beautiful structure of our trees’ branches. So much beauty lies within the cold darkness of our winter and I love it...my second favorite season to autumn! I hope you will enjoy, “Soul of Winter”. This was an improvisation that was done a few weeks ago as the sun set over the lake and backlit the thicket of trees, transforming our tree scape into the silhouetted, bare nakedness of winter. It felt wonderful, even though I am not completely healed yet and pretty rusty on the ivories. I suffer from tendon and nerve conditions and this past flare-up prevented me from playing since last July! Today, I simply couldn’t help myself and decided to do an improv today based on a chord structure I like and a melody line that played in my head. Pardon the rougher sound - no post production work this time. The path of all our futures is unknown and this case, I am not even sure of my own musical path, so the title “Into The Unknown” is how I felt as I played it. Badalamenti Jackie Perks - Classical Jams Piano 2018-01-12 | I am playing the beautiful “Laura Palmer’s Theme” from the “Soundtrack from Twin Peaks”, composed by American composer Angelo Badalamenti. It is haunting, beautiful music that I have loved from the moment I first heard it. In the second part, I have opened up this music further, playing it the way I feel it and arranged by me. Records and is the official soundtrack to the television series Twin Peaks (1990–91). It is track no. 2 on the album. The series' co-creator David Lynch produced the album alongside Badalamenti.It’s especially interesting that “Laura Palmer’s Theme” was written even before the series started shooting back in 1989. The story goes that one day Badalamenti was at his Fender Rhodes, with Lynch sitting to his right. “Okay, Angelo, we’re in the dark woods now,” Badalamenti recalled Lynch saying in the 2007 documentary Secrets From Another Place: Creating Twin Peaks. “And there’s a soft wind blowing through some sycamore trees. I enjoyed some music, sipped my coffee, then decided to get to my piano and play in the dark (my favorite thing to do). Before that, I let out the dog and looked out into the yard. With floodlights illuminated, I observed the most gorgeous frost clinging to everything and a tiny little dusting of snowflakes coming down, too. This very simple improvisation came out shortly afterward and I really hope you like it. I call it, “Frosty Morning Mist”. I used a setting on my Roland that allowed a whisper of orchestration. I meant to show the title in the beginning and my credit at the end, but somehow in the process copied the end slide to the beginning......still learning Premiere Pro (but I love it)! This is a raw, freeform improvisation based on my wonderfully inspired time spent with my family, viewing the magical spectacle of the 2017 Solar Eclipse in Waterloo, IL!! It is simply titled, “Waterloo” as it encompasses all the sentiment felt during the time in this special place and surrounded by my family! It's a bit long, but hope you will listen all the way through and try to imagine this great event! The Corona was the most amazing thing we had ever seen. The aura and glow all around us was surreal!! Spectacular sights and sounds! It was really hot, so the cicadas were carrying on. Once darkness fell, it stopped, followed immediately by the crickets. As the light began to emerge again, we enjoyed a short and rare chorus of the cicadas and crickets singing together. I love my family so much and seeing this together is something I will never forget! This event was so emotional and reminds us all how small we all really are in time and space, but gives us a much stronger feeling of our human connection to each other and a reminder how much we really do need each other. I have really missed you all and my piano! After spending time away from YouTube and my piano this summer, it felt so great to just sit down and just let my emotions go…I love to play in the dark with bare feet :-) I really hope you enjoy it this raw improv :-) Credit to NASA for some footage and pics. It was inspired by a rainstorm in winter. As I listened to the tap, tap, tap of the humble beginnings of rain, then claps of thunder and a downpour, that wonderful feeling of everything being fresh, clean, and washed anew came over me. Ah, I just love that feeling....so soothing in the night. As the rain fell, this music entered my mind and I couldn't wait to get up and compose it! With it’s major/minor shifts, this work is written in the key of E Minor and it’s relative key G Major. Time signature fluctuates between 4/4 and 6/8 time. Ice Blue - A Tribute to Our Samoyed Dog Jackie Perks - Classical Jams Piano 2016-12-31 | It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of our dear and precious Samoyed dog, Ice Blue. He was 14-1/2 years old and had a great life. He gazed into my eyes lovingly, gave me his paw and kissed my face and hands very gently, then passed away very peacefully yesterday morning in my arms. He was sweet, highly intelligent and simply one of a kind and will be missed dearly by my husband and me, as well as all extended family members. He was very loved by all and especially loved children and being pampered by his human "Grandma". It's a heartbreaking way to close 2016. Since he lost his lifelong companion in 2013, I sensed a loneliness in his heart that never really left him and they are now together again, playing gently forever. I hope you enjoy my little film, which chronicles his life. I took the video just a few short weeks ago....on December 10 during a snowstorm. He was in the yard enjoying his favorite activity...just letting the snow pile up on and around him, catching snowflakes and licking it off his paws. He loved it from the time he was a baby and it was always tough to get him to come inside if it was snowing. The accompanying piano piece is an excerpt that I played by Borodin, "String Quartet No. 2", which I adapted from strings to piano. Rest in peace my dear sweet Ice until we meet again.

It was recorded the night I learned that my precious and only sister Kristin was dying and I was overtaken with emotion. It was the most emotional recording of my life and I remember feeling numb, angry, and heartbroken at the same time. I sobbed all over my piano in the dark that night and had my recorder on. I can't even describe the pain of losing this amazing and beautiful human being that lived and loved with all her heart. He did not tell me this and the owner had no idea until it was later flagged by a bot. After some back and forth communication with them, they would not grant permission for me to use it. As a formality, they returned the film to my channel since they agreed not to take legal action, but I had to agree to remove it immediately from my channel, which I did.

She loved to feed the birds and squirrels, and was the best cook and baker around! She also loved to dance....oh my...did she ever! Through the years, we've enjoyed kicking up our heels together and we really used to do a lot of it in our younger days :-)) I always had such a great time with her and so many fond memories of our childhood, too. I sure will miss my kind, giving, graceful, gentle, and sometimes sassy and silly sister. This music came to me as I looked at her picture, and held a piece of jewelry and small book entitled, "Sisters" that I had given her years ago. I was so touched that she cherished it and now I will cherish it always, too. I really miss her...we all miss her. The works are for the most part in free time (lacking time signatures or bar divisions) and highly experimental with form, rhythm and chordal structure. Composed in A minor, it features a bass line centred on a minor chord iv (Dm), sounding D, A, D, F, A, D, F, D, A, F, D, A, D. James Horner - All Love Can Be (from A Beautiful Mind) - Piano Cover and Tribute Jackie Perks - Classical Jams Piano 2015-06-28 | This is my piano performance and tribute to the recently deceased and very great composer, James Horner. I was shocked and saddened to learn of his untimely passing. His works were so beautiful and I have been following his music from the moment I heard it the first time. This music selection is one of my favorites entitled, “All Love Can Be” from one of my favorite films of all time, “A Beautiful Mind”. The film was released in 2001 by Universal Pictures. It was directed by Ron Howard and starred Russell Crowe. It was also a Golden Globe & Oscar Nominee. The piece was written by James Horner and Will Jennings for Charlotte Church, who sang a soul stirring rendition for the film. I really hope you enjoy my interpretation of this beautiful classic. I also experimented with video taken in my yard yesterday. May James Horner rest in peace. It is titled, “Requiem for the Dead: An American Spring 2014”. It is a very tragic, deep, dark, emotional look at gun violence in America. As you can imagine, I was really excited and deeply honored when my performance was chosen to appear on such a popular and long-standing network!
