Time to uncover some summer recommendations - by gamified means!
It’s the last vPub before the summer break. Kind of. But that usually calls for a fun session; a break up party. I like those that can involve as many of us as possible.
However this year, for those of you who’d still like to gather and talk whisky, we do have some channels stepping forward to help plug the gap over the summer weeks. I’ll share more details on that and let you know - here in the pinned comments - where to go to find that.
In the meantime, I hope you can join me and a few familiar faces to try to uncover what our whisky picks would be for summer. We’ll each be choosing something different, and you get to vote on what wins.
Our three summer categories will be loosely based around holidays:
1: The Holiday Sipper
What are we sipping to relax? This is the anxiety-free, ‘good value’ category. Something affordable and available to give us the least amount of bottle level stresses and maximum relaxing enjoyment.
2: The Suitcase Bottle
This is a special holiday treat. We’re taking a trip and we know we’re going to have opportunities to enjoy a decent dram while away. We know this won’t be available where we’re going and it’s something nice; something to fit the moment. A good holiday-treat dram. Freestyle it for summer.
3: The Welcome Home
We’ve had our (hopefully) relaxed time away and now need to pack up and return to the grind, but there’s something at home making that a much more attractive prospect; a special bottle. Something that’s been on our mind. A special bottle? A favourite? Something precious? Something to make the return to a pile of unopened mail a little less dull.
So there we have it. We’ll also break up the flow with some Bottleships - remember that? We’ll try a slight tweak and see if we can get that to work again. And to place a gamified cherry on top of it all, we’ll close out with a Menno Quiz at the End. It’s been a while. We hope the brutality of the questions don’t have us all running for the next flight to as-far-away-as-possible.
