One Day in Solvang: Vikings, Ostriches, Aebleskivers, Christmas Tree Burn & More California Through My Lens 2024-01-14 | Solvang is a fantastic city for a weekend trip from Los Angeles. Their Julefest celebration runs through the month of December and culminates in a Christmas Tree burn in the first week of January. The trees are brought from all over the Santa Ines Valley and fireman provide a fire demonstration before the tree burning. I took the opportunity to visit the city and spend a half day exploring everything from the Viking Museum to an Aebleskiver taste test. Mt Whitney: Hiking the Tallest Mountain in the USA (Outside Alaska) California Through My Lens 2023-10-08 | Mt Whitney is the tallest mountain in the Lower 48 and sits at over 14,500 feet in the Eastern Sierra Range. The hike is 21.5 miles round trip with over 6000 feet of elevation gain. We did the trail over 2 days with an overnight at Trail Camp in September of 2023. It was an incredible adventure and one that I will never forget. San Diegos 2 Tallest Waterfalls & Californias Best Pie California Through My Lens 2023-02-05 | Cedar Creek Falls and Mildred Falls are the two tallest waterfalls in San Diego. Cedar Creek Falls is a popular hiking trail that requires a permit, but Mildred Falls is out in the backcountry of San Diego and many people don't even know that it exists (even though it is San Diegos tallest waterfall). Searching for the Grotto Falls in Malibu California Through My Lens 2023-01-29 | The Grotto Trail in Malibu is a great hike that leads down to a unique waterfall that falls into a cave. I decided to try and hike to it after some of the recent rain we got and while I did see lots of waterfalls along the way, I ultimately didn't make it down to the Grotto. Riding Every Ride at Disneyland in One Day California Through My Lens 2022-10-23 | Disneyland Park in Anaheim, CA is known for being a busy park, often with long lines and lots of visitors every day. My mom has been a fan of Disneyland for as long as I can remember so we decided to spend the day at the park for her birthday and to see if it was even possible to ride every ride in the park in one day. Over a full 14 hour day we were able to ride 29 rides, which was every available ride that day. It was a long day but a fun adventure.
