I often wondered why there was two. From that point forward everything about the railways, the canals, the roads and routes fascinated me. This is the story of a race that at least two companies took part in. Error 1: I note that I used Lord Carnarvon's picture for The Marquis of Ailesbury! Error 2: I omitted to note that the DNSR line stopped at Winchester and had to accept a second offer from LSWR and cross the itchen valley over Hockley Viaduct joining their main line. Messed that Up completely in the video hence the Error message in the description.
