"This painting really spoke to me for a few different reasons—the first of which being that in this speech, Lewis the Dauphin is speaking to Cardinal Pandulph. St. Jerome is dressed in the traditional garb of a cardinal and is pointing off-frame, which gave me the impression of the Cardinal asking Lewis to go back home to France. I also loved the lion staring up at St. Jerome, as Lewis has always felt very predatory to me in this speech."
