I have created a video on how to install it and how to add it to Home Assistant.First, the device itself, model Sonoff ZBMINIR2 is a very small module in size and can fit behind almost any switch. its only 39.5x33x16.8mm which is definitely tiny. its even a bit smaller than the ZBMINIL2 and that module does not require a natural wire. so in terms of size, i think its the one of the tiniest modules on the market today.The installation process of the Sonoff ZBMINIR2 really could not be any easier, and everything just makes sense. the actual wiring i used in my deployment is shown in the video. And as always, i have to clarify here, i have taken my own risk, but when dealing with electricity and wiring, i recommend you to use a certified electrician because this stuff is dangerous, you can literally get your self hurt!The Sonoff ZBMINIR2 does require a neutral wire so you should definitely take that into account. If you have a neutral wire behind your switch, use a neutral required switch because that has several benefits over a no neutral module, for example, by using a neutral required module, the module itself will become a ZigBee router (repeater) which is always a great thing in a ZigBee network. As for what this device works with, i can obviously be paired to a sonoff Zigbee hub like the Sonoff NSpanel devices and it can easily be3 paired to Home Assistant using ZHA if you have a ZigBee coordinator already configured. Over all, the Sonoff ZBMINIR2 is a great device, very stable, easy to install and the price point makes it almost a no brainer buy for me. As for individual computers, some of those are holding critical data and they are currently still not backed up. we will utilize Synology Active Backup for Business and make sure they will be backed up properly.As for the Synology NAS itself, we will use Synology's Hyper Backup in order to create a backup job for the NAS content that will go to either a NAS in an offsite location or to Synology C2 cloud storage. There's no way we can leave the NAS not backed up since this will effectively make the NAS a single point of failure . Home Assistant and Cloudflare Dynamic DNS (DDNS) Tech Me Out 2024-07-15 | Home Assistant and Cloudflare Dynamic DNS is actually the easiest way to get a real DDNS configured if you are already using Home Assistant and if you already have a domain managed in Cloudflare. I said it several times in past, if you are using DDNS today in order to facilitate remote access via port forwarding, i strongly advise against it. port forwarding is a bad idea.Having said that, in order to get started with this Home Assistant and Cloudflare Dynamic DNS obviously you need both home assistant to be already up and running and a domain already managed via Cloudflare. Those are two prerequisites that are outside the scope of this video but if you do want to see a video on any of them, drop me a comment below.Another note worthy comment, Home Assistant and Cloudflare Dynamic DNS will result in a DNS A record to be automatically updated with your IP address given to you from your ISP. If your ISP assigns you a double NAT'ed IP address, this is the address that will be updated in DNS which will render this entire process useless. So if you are going to use this for remote access via port forwarding, keep in mind that double nat will not work in this case.After configuring this Home Assistant and Cloudflare Dynamic DNS keep in mind that the integration will update the DNS A record once every hour. unlike other DDNS clients or sevices that sometime update the DNS once every 15 minutes. UniFi Vantage Point (I Have Been Waiting For This!) Tech Me Out 2024-07-03 | UniFi Vantage Point is, for me, an exciting new feature, one that i have personally waited for a long time. UniFi Vantage Point is basically Ubiquiti's attempt of creating an aggregated view for several UniFi Protect sites. a sort of the single pane of glass that increases your on site security. I mean, think about it, a single portal for all your UniFi Protect sites, all cameras in one place...how cool is that?The truth, at least for now is a little more complicated than that. right now, at least in this point in time, UniFi Vantage Point will only allow you to aggregate up to 3 UniFi Protect sites. That might change in the future but for now, that is the hard limit. Also, at least up to the date of this recording, it is still unclear how UniFi Vantage Point will integrate with other UniFi protect products.UniFi Vantage Point is definitely a step in the right direction and i know that this feature has been asked for by the community. Expand Synology Volume Size (Without Losing Data) Tech Me Out 2024-06-26 | If you want to expand Synology volume size in case you are starting to get low on free space, there is a way to do that without suffering data loss and without needing to copy all your data off the NAS. The process is pretty easy when done correctly, but keep in mind the following caveats.Let me start by saying that in the process of expanding Synology volume size any user, beginner or professional, any user in any experience level has his hands hiver a little in a process like this. This expand Synology volume size process is super critical and sensitive and any mistake could leave you in tears with all your data gone.The process will require you to gradually pull our drives from your nas, yes, while it is still working. that alone can cause any user a near hart attack. make sure you have your critical data backed up somewhere. this is universally true but especially before a process like this. Synology volumes, like any other volumes on any other systems, are a delicate thing and things can always go south. be prepared for the worst. Zemismart 6 Button Light Switch Review (Home Asssitant Tuya) Tech Me Out 2024-06-16 | Zemismart 6 button light switch review and actually it was quit a journey. This switch does require a neutral wire. This specific model has 4 gangs and 2 scene buttons. The switch does act as a Zigbee router to increase your ZigBee signal across the house.This Zemismart 6 button light switch review started out as just a regular product review but it turned out to be almost a full blown project since the back side of the device was a bit larger that the electric box i wanted the device to fit into. So for this Zemismart 6 button light switch review i had to do a bit chiseling and plastering. In the end, it turned out just perfect.Here is what i especially like about the Zemismart 6 Button Light Switch: It fits my use case perfectly since i was able to place where my wife can benefit from it which raises the spouse approval factor substantially. Its uses Zigbee which i like and was able to remove a Wi-Fi based Shelly 2.5 device. The Zemismart 6 Button Light Switch Will act as a Zigbee router which another great win for the device.Here is what i don't like about the Zemismart 6 Button Light Switch: the back side of the device, where all the wire terminals are, is pretty big and probably won't fit a lot of regular size electric boxes. so make sure the you take note of the measurements i will provide below. Overall, the Zemismart 6 Button Light Switch is indeed a cleaver device that make smart home control a lot more simple. Sonoff NSPanel Pro Review (Giving a Second Chance) Tech Me Out 2024-05-19 | The Sonoff NSPanel Pro Review in this video is actually a second chance for a device with a launch that was at minimum controversial. The idea itself of a small screen device to manage your smart home from is great, but upon initial launch, software wise, things didn't look too great.the Sonoff NSPanel Pro was called by some content creators "beta product at best" and they were not wrong. many of the device features simply didn't work, some were promised to be added in the future and we were left with is over all a lees than satisfactory product. But seems like Sonoff were indeed hard at work.Sonoff dod put an effort and listed to the community, they added feature after feature and fixed all they can fix and looks like this still is a work in progress. but today, at firmware version version 3, it seems like that the Sonoff NSPanel Pro is in a very different status that it was in its initial release firmware. The Sonoff NSPanel Pro now includes several features that are so basic, i don't even know why they weren't there is the initial release firmware. features like, custom wallpapers and switching between zigbee modes to allow devices to act zigbee routers and create a full Zigbee mesh. Tile customization was also introduced in firmware version 3, making the NSPanel Pro a lot more customizable by the end user.Another noteworthy addition in the Sonoff NSPanel Pro firmware version 3 is the ability to create "favorites" or "Web pages" and the NSPanel Pro will display them in a browser window. So, if you want to display your Home Assistant dashboard on the NSPanel Pro, you dont really have to do a lot of tinkering with it.Overall, the Sonoff NSPanel Pro is still not perfect but it has come a long way since its initial release that's for sure. Tech Me Out 2024-04-03 | Install pfSense on Proxmox the easy way. just follow this video and i promise you will succeed. the only portion if this video i consider to be more challenging is the qemu guest agent portion but even that, you only have to do once or skip entirely.There are several prerequisites you need to have fulfilled in order to Install pfSense on Proxmox, you need to have a computer with more than one network port. we will need one for LAN and another one for WAN.You will also need to have Proxmox already installed, that part is out of the scope of this video. You will need to download the pfsense ISO file and have it ready on your computer.Now, if all prerequisites are fulfilled, we can start to Install pfSense on Proxmox. I have been using this device for a while and seems like Sonoff has almost completely nailed it.The very first thing you really feel about the Sonoff presence sensor SNZB-06P is that its tiny in it form factor. Its almost the size of a regular motion sensor so unlike other devices on the market that are pretty big, this Sonoff presence sensor SNZB-06P is very easy to integrate into any space.The overall design of the Sonoff presence sensor SNZB-06P is actually very unique and original and it does look great, far from being an eye soar. The Aqara human presence sensors that are really the gold standard in this device category are big and bulky and require a lot of attention in placing as they can easley become a noticeable eye soar. The Sonoff presence sensor SNZB-06P doesnt have this problem at all.But for me, the biggest and most important advantage of the Sonoff presence sensor SNZB-06P is that unlike other presence sensors on the market today, this device uses zigbee instead of wifi. this allows the device to be super responsive in detecting presence. in fact, the Sonoff presence sensor SNZB-06P detects presence so fast, you can almost rely on it to automate light on or power on actions that are usually time sensetive.Another Super important advantage of the Sonoff presence sensor SNZB-06P is its price. It currently can be found on sites like Ali Express for around 15 USD, Less then a quater of the price of the Aqra FP2. If you are using a cloud or an offsite controller you will need to user Layer 3 adoption, I do have a dedicated video just about this specific topic.The UniFi UXG-Lite is the newest addition to the UniFi gateay lineup and unlike the UniFi Dream Machines or Dream Wall, the UniFi UXG-Lite, much like the older USG-Lite doesn't include a built-in controller. Meaning that you will need an already existing UniFi Network Controller to adopt the UXG-Lite.In most cases, the UniFi UXG-Lite will be dropped in into an already existing network with several UniFi switches or access points that will need to communicate with the UniFi UXG-Lite instead of the existing gateway which will be taken out.
