Fully sleeved cabling is definitely more durable than unsleeved. Heck, we even use it on our Shuriken series of cables. It truly does add an extra layer of protection and gives the cable a unique aesthetic. But sleeving adds bulk, weight, cost, and sometimes microphonics, depending on the headphone. So, is it worth the tradeoffs? If the wire is built strong enough, it might be overkill and unnecessary when used in a risk-minimal home/office or other normal environment free of razor-sharp objects or industrial machinery. That's what we explore today in this video. A force strong enough to damage a bare cable will more than likely destroy your megabuck headphones or amp, which is much more concerning.Good news is... you can decide what is best for you! There are plenty of high-end, bulky, individually sleeved cables out there on the market today, if you plan to use your expensive headphones while performing dangerous activities that may harm your cable. (Spelunking, climbing through broken windows, professional stunt work, etc.) None of which we'd recommend doing while listening to headphones, in any case, BTW.But for those audiophiles out there that typically sit and listen to their music comfortably in a chair... we offer an alternative approach.
