Creature Feature — Arabian Oryx evtrib 2016-03-07 | Did you know the Phoenix Zoo helped save the Arabian Oryx from extinction? Operation Oryx started in 1962 to save this special desert grazer. Due in large part to the Phoenix Zoo, the species went from the brink of extinction to a growing population which today sits around 7,000 animals worldwide. The zoo’s conservation program gained it global recognition. Manager of Hoofstock, Liesl King, met with GetOut to tell us all about these incredible creatures and how the zoo was involved in saving the species.Check out them out!

Boasting 16,000 square feet of environment the tigers have fully embraced their new digs. Just like with house cats, it took some getting used to, but Jai and Suriya are now happy to use their pools, rolling the grass and take long luxurious catnaps. Our cocktail this month is no exception. But forget the usual pumpkin and cinnamon flavors, this cocktail is Southwestern born. Created by master Beverage Director Brian Goodwin at The Gladly, the Fall Harvest Fizz is a spritely cocktail that is light, fun, and delicious. The hardest part is merely shaking the cocktail.Check out our video at EVTrib on YouTube, which will show you step-by-step how to craft this unique seasonal drink at home. But hurry, this speciality is only available until the end of the month!Ingredients1.5 ounce Wheelers Western Dry Gin1 ounce real pumpkin purée1/2 ounce lemon juice1/2 ounce lime juice1/2 ounce simple syrup1 bar spoon St. Elizabeth Allspice Dram1/2 ounce cream1 ounce egg white3 ounce soda waterProcedure1. Dry shake egg white in mixing tin.2. Build all ingredients but soda in half of tin without shaken egg white.3. Shake hard and keep shaking for a full minute.4. In a Collins glass without ice double strain half of cocktail.5. Pour soda in glass. Let set for a moment. This will create the head of the cocktail.6. Double strain the rest of the cocktail into glass making sure to keep it flowing to the center of the head that builds up. You will see the head of the cocktail rise above the glass. Friends for Life Barktoberfest 2015 evtrib 2015-10-15 | Oct. 10 saw Gilbert’s Friends for Life Animal Rescue place 16 dogs and two cats into new East Valley homes at its 16th Annual BARKtoberfest at the park outside the Gilbert Civic Center. The event hosted some 10,000 visitors and was chock full of vendors selling everything from blinged-out pet jewelry to custom-made doggie doors. And the gym's proximity to ASU and MCC make it a perfect place to detox after those long school days. Focus is celebrating its 2nd anniversary Saturday, May 30.
