Old Cars & The Analog Resistance The War on Beauty 2026-07-24 | When our family SUV broke down, I did a deep dive into cars and found that new cars are not only aesthetically and mechanically terrible, but are now invading our privacy with interior cameras tracking drivers' habits. I also learned (and observed in real life) that there is a major shift back to old cars, which are low-tech, better-looking, and can actually be fixed by DIY mechanics. The move to analog (not just in cars but with other products too) is a powerful and practical way to take back our freedom. Out of Frame: How the Removal of Societal Boundaries Erased the Picture Frame The War on Beauty 2026-06-19 | All paintings used to be framed; now very often they are not. For hundreds of years, painters very carefully chose frames as the final punctuation mark on their work. Beyond their basic function of ease of mobility or protection, frames demarcated a painting as something set apart from the rest of the world. But as the religious, moral, and societal boundaries of the West were transgressed and ultimately erased, so too was the picture frame.
